Ive tried searching but it’s amazing the amount of times the word indeed comes up….indeed it is!
Im looking to add an experienced tech to our team but advertising locally and on FB etc has drawn a blank. Ive been thinking of trying indeed but theres rather a lot of mixed reviews online about its effectiveness. Theres a free trial which appears to give you full access to the site but dont want the hassle of having to cancel etc if it isnt worth the bother. Does anyone use indeed and if so what are your thoughts?

You could try Pistonheads which has an employment section.
Alternatively, the job centre (if that still exists today).

We use it all the time and results are mixed, it often depends on the time you have to review applications. Decent application questions are a must, which should help you decide if candidates have the experience, etc. before you read their CV...although often people just click they do even if they don't! Good luck with it.
Never used it but been considering as a candidate rather than a recruiter.
The current advert on TV probably to blame it's on all the time, though I roll my eyes at an accountant who is "running behind on my rent".
Wouldn't be the kind of accountant I would want...
In a similar vein, I was behind a builder's van yesterday who's slogan proclaimed "I love it when a plan comes together". Not exactly confidence inspiring.

I've seen a theme of it lately. Noel Fitzpatrick on the petplan advert saying they pay claims quickly which is why we work with them. Mercenary bastard!
Plus Tesco's every little helps slogan is hysterical. They should have used "be grateful we giving you anything"

Indeed has worked well for me as a candidate my last 3 jobs have all been via Indeed.
Also I know LinkedIn has been good for a friend when he takes on new sales staff.

Linkedin - I occasionally look if I get alerted that "5 people have viewed your profile in the last week!" to find that there is always an accountant, a financial planner, some German nuclear company and maybe one offshore O&G company.
BUT - all my connections (not too many) just seem to go around in some big circle-jerk talking about how great it was to attend that seminar, great to meet up with X, Y, Z and what a great job each other did............................................
It's just become facebook for folk who are up their own arses - or each others'.
I've used the free version of Indeed a couple of times. You get lots of applications, which regardless of what you put in the ad is needed in an applicant, will always fulfill these requirements but clearly really don't.
So in your case for an experienced LR tech you'll get applicants from kids who have done a few days through a temp agency on reception.
But in between all the chaff there will be a few who do have what you want, on paper at least, and as it's free it's worth a few minutes to reject the rubbish.

If you’re on LinkedIn, you can change your profile to show “I’m Hiring” or something similar so people see it and realise your company needs new people?
As much as I find LinkedIn totally cringeworthy for reasons mentioned above, you might be able to “connect” with potential candidates and then message them accordingly.
I presume you want to stay away from “specialist” recruitment agencies due to their fees etc?
