    Arsenal Invincibles Rolex mod

Just something a bit different for anyone interested.

Thierry Henry had this commissioned through Titan Black, which a friend of mine works for.
    LE of 49.
One of the customisations was the hands are the same as those from the clock end at Highbury, which I think is a nice touch.

She's just sent me a hands-on pic, which I thought some of you might like to see.

No offence to your friend but I think Thiery is a better footballer than he is a watch designer.

It's basically the clock from Highbury in a Rolex case to be fair to him. Not much designing done by Thierry!

Yes I realise that, but he obviously came up with the idea. I suppose if he and the other 48 like it that's all that matters.

The dial does look a little, erm, DIY? Assuming this is some hugely expensive custom order I might have expected something a little more finely finished... I wonder if TH is happy with the result.

    Arsenal Invincibles Rolex mod

Looks pretty accurate to me. I didn’t recall any applied numerals or blued steel dauphine hands on the original.

Thierry never makes mistakes (apart from that penalty duet with Bobby).

That's a really nice idea. I like the dial a lot. But stylistically it just doesn't seem to match the Oyster case. Something simpler and less imposing would have been rather nicer.

If you zoom in the printing looks terrible.

    Same.

But I'd still have one - just for the memories.

i'm going to admit something now...i'm a burnley fan, a bit...and today i did the insert on my 116500LN in half claret and half blue...or as near a match as they had at halfrauds in llandudno...idle hands and all that. I can always scrape it out.

Nice to know you're painting your insert Villa colours. Keep up the good work.

That looks so horrible. Shoul have left the case untouched if he wanted that classic vintage feel. The all black DLC coating ruins the watch

Given that the style of the dial and hands is very much of the 30’s when the clock was made, perhaps it might look better in one of Eddie’s cases, like the PRS-35 or 36.

I’m sure the price is high, and based on the looks someone should bury it...

Awful. Poor Rolex having their name on that dial.

Yep, wouldn't have looked half as bad in a steel case. Still pretty terrible though.

The thing is with special project watches the things that need to be fitted in don't always make for a clean or classic design unfortunately.

Fortunately only 49 will ever exist. Hopefully it will disappear into obscurity never to be seen again. I thought that Thierry Henry was classier than that tbf

I'm a gooner for all my sins.

This is not a nice watch and am glad it is so limited.

Smacks of a total lack of taste, and only an awareness of branding.

    What a mess.

Whilst appreciative of the fact the dial design is taken from Highbury’s clock, I rarely like such modifications and this is no exception, but at least it’s quite understated in black & white.

The printing is especially poor, as already noted, though the pictures on Titan’s website show better print quality.

Mesut Ozil paid £30,000 to charity for one of them at Arsenal’s charity ball, so at least some amount of money went to good use on the back of one of them.

This might be a silly question, but is this technically a fake dial? just curious.

Surely the watch should have been a Wenger?

Only 49? Is that how many points Arsenal will get this season?😊

Can’t say I’ll be queuing up for this one...🤨

That’s actually a good question. I’ve no idea if they customise the existing dial, in which case it’s purely a mod, or actually replace it. I suspect it’s the former as when I met the boss he told me he’s “only interested in customisation.”

Unless it's purporting to be a Rolex dial don't see how it's a fake.

How come its taken this long? Is Henry a tight wad or has he been saving up all this time to do this?

Good point. I didn't think about it still being the original dial.

Each to their own, blah, blah, blah.

I still don’t get it. A perfectly good watch ruined, warranty invalidated and at silly money. What’s the point?

To commemorate a significant event, action or group. Makes perfect sense. Where military units used to get a tour t-shirt when on ops they now get watches. They make excellent momentos

I'd prefer to just have the back engraved.

Yeah, there is that and I'd probably agree. Unless it was something subtle, which this one certainly is not! 😂
