RS always come across as an organisation that look after their employees. Which obviously translates into good customer service.
Store of the month used to get to drive round in the owner's Bentley. Don't know if that's still the case.
ordered some AKG headphones on line for delivery to the Deansgate Manchester store.
got a call from the store at 11am the day after ordering to say they were in - much more personal than an email and reassuring to know they were actually off a wagon and in the store
went to collect and it was absolutely pi**ing it down - they had a pile of free umbrellas to give away.
good service
......and as a PS to the thread on noise cancelling headphones the model I got is N60nc which at £199 is quite a saving on the Bose/Senheiser etc models & they are IMHO worth checking out

+1 from me for Richer Sounds customer service.
Last used the Norwich branch a couple of years ago and again faultless service.
Always shop with them when I can and have done since first discovering their tiny store on London Bridge Walk in the early 80's. Don't think it's there anymore. It was always busy (think it got the record for most sales per sq/ft). I do remember they gave away free plugs with all equipment and free lollipops for the queue.
+2.
It's the last remaining Audio shop in my town and rammed with customers every weekend.
Long may bricks and mortar retailers flourish.
I ‘ve been using the Southampton branch for many years. Whenever I hear a friend or colleague mention that they’re going to Currys or Argos to look for a new TV, I always point them in the direction of RS.
Richer Sounds are a case study of how to treat customers well.
I’d go out of my way to use RS. They are fantastic.
They even paid for my parking when I went to collect Sonos Beam recently, small thing but it is appreciated.
I’ve been a regular user of Richer Sounds and we bought our replacement TV from a burglary from them. I’ve always taken out their extended warranty as it’s one of the few that’s good but when I bought the TV I only had enough cash for the TV and fully intended to buy the extended warranty straight after but with all the crap from the burglary I forgot.
The TV developed a problem after a couple of years and I contacted them thinking I had the extended warranty. They took the TV off me to repair, arranged a replacement to watch whilst waiting for mine back. A couple of days later they called me to tell me I hadn’t got the extended warranty so I realised what happened, told them I must have forgotten but thought I had it. They picked up the cost of repair themselves.
Top company
I had awfull service from them a few years ago I bought a Yamaha AV amp and it came with the wrong remote and instructions spent 2 weeks phoning their Stoke store and receiving all the we've just posted it to you crap and ended up writing to their md to resolve it but maybe they have changed as that was a long while ago
I had one bad experience there a few years ago when a sales person was rude, and as I result I took by business down the road to Sevenoaks. That one instance aside—which certainly isn't representative of the company's sales staff—I really like RS, their service and their prices. Usually the only reason I wouldn't buy from there is when they don't carry the particular model that I want to buy.
RS is the only place I visit nowadays. It’s the little things like paying you back for your parking, demo rooms, and decent returns policies make this place great!
Doubled up post

Buy all my stuff from RS Lichfield, great service, plus people that know what they are selling. I very often pop in to see what’s new, always end up with a coffee and a chat. Top shop
Richer Sounds are a national treasure.
Never had a problem- quality products, good advice and excellent prices. Could never understand people going to Currys Dixons etc - no name brands, ridiculous prices, appalling service why??
Only place I go now although that's because other dealers have closed, gone hugely upmarket (and my old ears can't really tell much difference or,at least not enough to pay the price) or have chosen to focus on home cinema where most of the market lies I suppose.
Good service, good prices, demo facilities (for all customers and not just those willing to spend thousands like some shops) and good knowledge.
Willing to help too:when my father was in hospital,I went to the Newcastle branch to look to buy a better tv and hdd recorder. They offered to bring it to his home and instal it for nothing. My father died before it could be done.I made a point of going back to thank the young man who had helped me and I would buy from them again..as I plan to listen to some Dali speakers for a possible future buy.
RS have great customer service. They monitor AVForums constantly and reach out directly to customers who have had issues of poor customer service.
Just a shame their product range isn’t a little wider but think that’s down to their choice more than anything.
Local branch in Plymouth..good as gold..very helpful

My first purchase (NAD 3020 IIRC) from them was 1979 in their original store in one of the arches under London Bridge, I think the founder Julian Richer served me himself. It was chaos in there, boxes full of gear piled high and no units on show, let alone demo facilities. A far cry from Lasky's in Tottenham Court Road, but a lot cheaper.

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
They are truly a specialist retailer with extensive knowledge on most items they sell, another vote from me!
I agree. I have always used Richer Sounds Newcastle. Most recent a smart TV.
I originally contacted them by telephone, they did not answer.
A couple of minutes later, they rang back apologising for missing my call and how could they help.
Better price and warranty than John Lewis ( RS a 6 year warranty) so I purchased it
I arrived as they were closing, they stayed open to serve me and take payment. As we were collecting our TV another customer also arrived and purchased a TV.
First class service
I have never found it necessary to return faulty items so cant comment on repairs etc
And me, always get great service and genuine advice, not just what they're told by the sales reps.
Not bought from them in years but I have very fond memories of all the stuff I've bought since '88 when I blew my first pay-packet on a hifi.
Still got the '78 vintage Rotel amp from that system. Last year I just gave the Kef bookshelf speakers to my gf's son.
Bought a minidisc walkman from them in late 90s which still performs admirably.
Always very customer focussed. Always knowledgeable. One of the last companies which very clearly gives much more than a toss.
Kinda makes me feel guilty that I've not been a customer for 10 years! Mind you, in that time I've only made 2 types of purchase they would supply - both TVs.

Bought a denon hifi with Q Acoustics speakers - silver cable from Richer Sounds following advice from a hifi buff friend. Richer Sounds did offer a comparison system in their dedicated studio to ensure we were happy with our choice, but the sound from the Denon and Q Acoustic was incredible. Service so good, bought a TV the following year.
They are a profit share now so the staff have an interest in good service.
Since retiring my HiFi business, I needed a new smart TV. I visited RS in Middlesbrough and the staff were knowledgeable and very helpful as expected.
6yr warranty top marks to them.
My Optima projector gave up the ghost a while back. I had forgotten about the 5 year warranty they gave me when I bought it, about 4 years prior, so having given up getting it repaired, I went back to the RS store in Glasgow where I originally bought it, only for them to ask a few simple questions and confirm it was still under warranty and it would be repaired or replaced.
While it was away, they gave me a loaner until it came back repaired.
Can't fault them at all.
I’ve used RS in Leeds for years, despite not living particularly close to the city centre. The most recent experience was buying a new telly. Absolutely top notch advice, service and after sales (delivery out of the norm & warranty query).
They really do set the standard. Not just in their own field but across many sectors.

I use the Lichfield store and buy all my stuff from them. The staff know what they are selling and are ready to explain the products. I am a VIP customer, so I get further discounts. I purchased a new 65” OLED Panasonic last month and it was pleasure to shop there.
I too like RS, their choice of products, good informed but not pushy service, excellent prices and after sale service prove that people will shop on the high street (and make a special trip if needed!) if these are provided by a retailer.
I have used the Cambridge Richer Sounds a few times, excellent advice and always competitive on price.
I made a purchase at the first London Bridge store during its opening week back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth.
Been buying from them ever since!
Never go anywhere else..really helpful staff great prices and quality products..
Although I always think of the Woofers and Tweeters sketch when I shop there they are so knowledgeable..
Classic bit of British comedy, daddy-o
Have to agree with their customer service. Polite, courteous, knowledgable. Even carried the purchased items to my car.
Another vote for RS, I buy pretty much all my electronics from the Guildford branch. Excellent, non-pushy, advice.
Another vote for R.S.
I've bought a bit of Hi fi/ TV equipment over the last few years and transactions have always been hassle free. Add to that a free 6 year warranty on my TV and free extra cover for my Audio speakers.
They may not always be the cheapest ( always competitive though) but on the few occasions they are more expensive they have always at least price matched the item.
