Hand turned Guilloche - truly a work of art in its own right

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Hand turned Guilloche - truly a work of art in its own right
I made a couple of samples last year as it was a process i thought of using. I just didn't have enough time to get to know the machine properly and the technicians at uni didn't have enough time to show me properly. Very lucky to have a working machine, sadly the people that know how to use it properly are few and far between.
If i find my poor attempts i'll post a pic.
Some newer pop up brands have been using CNC engraved 'guilloche' - it doesn't devalues a proper engine turned one as above, but it is one of those master skills. Thanks for sharing Eddie.
Love watching videos like these, true master indeed. Makes you appreciate the work that goes into these dials.
Thanks for sharing the video.
Wow don’t think I’d ever have the patience to even do 1 line.
Thanks Eddie - why I love my Breguet

It's always interesting to see work like that, ta for posting. There are some interesting videos by Roger W. Smith on Youtube, showing straight line engine turning and rose engine turning, as well as hand engraving a dial, here .
