Very nice! Damascus steel, by the looks of it. When I was in Iceland I went to a knife-makers and obtained a hand-made knife. I like the craftsmanship. Perhaps a handmade, one-of-a-kind knife would suit better? I suppose this is 'talking you out of it' in a way !

    Cheers,

    £352.95...... Does that help?

Very special looking knife, but what are you going to do with it? If it's for utility, then I'm sure you can get something for a lot less that does the trick just as well, if it's for collecting/dispay/'cause you can, then it's your call, do you have anything better to spend that sum of cash on?

A guy where I work has a nice business in his spare time
have a look for White Tiger knives- very nice standard of one-off workmanship for less than you might think.

I have a Boker Ceramic that was part of my Sinn 142 box set, lovely thing and blooming sharp. feel worried to use it though for runing the set value.

For that kind of money you can get a handmade custom knife that will run circles around that Boker. Thats a lot of money for a machine made knife.

    Ta.

I'd be getting the VAT off if I was getting it from them, since I'm outside EU.

    I've got a very similar Boker, http://www.heinnie.com/Boker-Knives/Fol ... -970-2121/
It's heavy and there is blade play. It's not user serviceable either. It's a presentation knife really which is OK if that's what you want. I understand your urge as I was smitten by it when looking on the web.

If you want a knife for use then the Spyderco Paramilitary II is in a different league.

The above is probably to much of a good thing. Would settle for a Damasko buckle.

    Good to know.

"... instead"? Why 'instead'. Buy the damascus Boker as well.

As Snoopy said, 'Life's too short not to live it up a little'.

It was NZ$620, which included VAT of 15%.

It's bizarre, the B&M store here (the agent too) had at least three in the store near me when they first got them in (I think it was 2013). They have two stores, so might have got more. I think that's quite a lot for a country of 4.5 million, out of 999 knives.

At that time they wanted NZ$980 (or thereabouts) which was way too spendy. I am comfortable enough at NZ$620, and think it's a fair price.

In the interim, in 2016 I bought one of the base model WC Davis hunters (that this is based on), from an internet retailer in the states, when it was heavily on sale (they don't stock it in NZ) - and it had blade play. Quite poor.

This particular one, the shop only got in from Boker last year though, and was now priced at NZ$620. I know that on the Boker site, the price did drop from 459 euro at launch, to 399 euro at the end of stock. Our exchange rate was better in 2012-2013 though, maybe by as much as 10% over 2017.

Anyway, this one, is one of at least two that they got in 2017 - the first one I looked at had blade play. I literally couldn't believe it. I got this one transferred from the other store and it is totally fine. The noise as the blade locks up is great. A very solid clunk. My base model sound like a POS in comparison.

Photobucket is a waste of space now, and I haven't arranged another host yet, so sorry, no pic of the real item.
