    Call from the AD today

Chuffed to receive a call from my local AD today. Telling me that they had a BLNR with my name on it

What we really need to know is do you have the stickers and warranty card and how you managed to get the hangtag smuggled out.

All the stickers are still in place. The warranty card has been kept by 'Goldsmiths' for a year, but I do have a lovely photo-copy. Its not for sale, so not bothered in the slightest by the AD keeping the card.

Many many congrats. Just recently bought the same.

To the point above about the PCLs. I have the same reservation so have put it on rubber for now. Ideal for me would be to put it on a sub bracelet. Either way, lovely watch.

When it came out I could have had one but it’s exactly the polished centre that stopped me from buying one. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I should have just bought it!!

Well you could always have the center brushed and repolished in case you want to sell it at some point or get an additional unbrushed bracelet to wear it with. ;)

I think however the brushed centre suits the watch very well.

Re. the hangtag point, is this the Rolex green hangtag, or the price hangtag? I picked up my BLRO on Sat, but wasn't allowed to take the price hangtag ...

Absolute beauty. Still kicking myself for passing up the opportunity to buy one from an AD window two years ago.

I’ve had the call for a GMT LN 3 times in 2 months even though I was told earliest would be 6 months.

    Same here with my BLRO.

Was told they'd keep the price tag safe with the G'tee card, for collection next year. Fine by me.

They gave me the coffin though.

Maybe withholding the warranty card is actually working to reduce the waiting times?

Nice! Really good. That’s two threads like this in quick succession. Would be great if this becomes more common and speculators become fewer.

I can't figure out why lots seem to find them fast and others have dealers claiming not to have seen any. Do we really believe sombre dealers are bout being sent any and others get a steady supply?

More importantly does it mean silly second hand prices are now a thing of the past ?

  35. #35
It can be frustrating, been on the list for over a year for one of these and nothing, a few weeks seem like a nice turn around

Would have to say in reply to your question, No!

Watchfinder, the bench mark, rightly or wrongly for current pricing within the marketplace have the Blnr, Lv etc etc all at extortionate mark ups over RRP as do all of the secondary market dealers. Maybe the card retention by AD’s is causing the flippers some angst and allowing buyers further down the list to get their hands on a professional model sooner than expected but then they maybe too tempted not to cash in on the current frenzy and the merry go round just continues.

Prices will only start to normalise if buyers decide not to pay such high premiums over RRP, Rolex increases availability or another Economic recession hits and the buffers come off the luxury markets which are always one of the first to feel the effects of any downturn as people worry more about job security and paying the bills, rather than AD lists for Rolex or Patek.

With watches that are no longer produced I can understand people paying over rrp the watch was sold for. For the like of the blnr and any other watch currently in production inpatient folk are daft to pay over. When the time comes for my next watch which is likely a blnr I’ll approach a couple of dealers and be patient.

If only. People shamelessly listing on eBay with photocopy of the card and the promise to deliver it in 12 months' time. As I said elsewhere, if it means they "only" make £X,000 profit rather than £Y,000, then they've hardly lost out.

Of course, I'm assuming people are buying the cardless watches listed.

That is the huge irony. If no-one was prepared to pay over current list, then, immediately, the profit opportunity disappears and watches only sell to people who want them to wear. I find it difficult to believe many 126710's would be being sold by ADs if they weren't the "must have" SS Rolex.

I prefer the PCL over the flat bracket on my Hulk, even if it gets marked quite easy.

Didn’t know AD’s keeping the green tag part too, pretty sure they’ll be keeping the box followed by keeping your watch for you and giving you the warranty card only! Quite ridiculous.

Anyway OP, congrats on the watch, was my first Rolex and a keeper for life, will be passed onto my son once he is ready for it

I've just done this with my Omega AT Master Chronometer. I had an internal debate for a little while about the pros and cons of modifying a £550 bracelet but once i decided i was keeping the watch i just went ahead and it looks great without the PCL's i think (kind of like the old one).

Can't see that trend lasting anyway personally and thought that most people aren't too keen on them so if i did decide to flip the buyer may actually prefer it to the original.

Absolutely. Pcl is too blingy for a tool watch imo. Polished side of the case and side of the bracelet links is enough.
