    Leather Jacket Recomendations

    HI all,

I’ve been looking to buy a good quality leather jacket for a while but could do with some recommendations on brands.

I’ve seen a belstaff maxford 2.0 but as much as I like it I’m not sure I would want to pay the RRP.

I would be happy to spend up to £500 but if you can get a good quality jacket for £250 please share your thoughts.

I’m looking to get a similar style to the belstaff and my preference would be brown but would also consider black.

    Thanks

Not sure where abouts you're based but I know of an excellent independent shop in the corn exchange in Leeds. As far as I know they don't have an online store though.

You can definitely get an excellent leather jacket for under £250, just depends if you're ok with something that's not made by a big brand

    Schott.
    Was good enough for Brando.

To be honest, don't get overly fussed about quality.
Go for style and the fit.
I have several leather jackets, most of them are cheapies. (under £200 ish)They will go out of fashion way before they start to wear or look tatty.

I’d go Matchless. You may find an Osbourne in the sale for around £500. Edit - this one is £600.

If you can stretch your budget a bit Aero leathers are excellent, failing that I'd also look at Schott.

I would go to a Hugo Boss store at one of the outlet centres. They often have them half price and not only is the quality great but they are far more comfortable than some of the "specialist" suppliers

I tried the Matchless Donington, superb jacket, but it was too tight around the shoulders(I tend to be generally a medium but large around the shoulders), moved that on and while buying a new helmet saw the Frank Thomas Cashmere, perfect bought it.

Was in a similar position a couple of years ago and ended up with a Schott jacket - still looks new to be honest so I need to beat it / wear it more.

I bought something simple - a cafe racer as they're not really fashionable and always look good. Very high quality, even better value if you can get one in the US.

I bought a 'Skyfall' jacket from these people a few years ago and I love it.

They coincidentally made the Indiana Jones jacket for one of the films too, I beleive.

Get an airbag if it’s for riding.

Worth watching the videos of these on U-tube.

May have been, but I tried on a new ‘Brad’ and the leather quality was shocking. A couple of hundred sovs less than the old Brad, but an order of magnitude drop in quality.

Strangely owned by Ineos these days. Yes, the company that owns massive petrochemical facilities around the globe. Go figure.

    Leather Jacket Recomendations

Thank you for all the replies I will have a look at the websites. I am leaning towards a biker style jacket.

Has anyone had any experience with Caine leather, lake and leather or uk leather jackets?

    Thanks

You won’t be disappointed. A lot of bang for buck in my opinion.

I tried a jacket from them. Sadly it didn't fit well or look great on me, but the quality seemed pretty good and they were both responsive to a few questions I had prior to buying, delivered quickly and refunded me promptly too. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again if I found a style I liked.

    Hope you enjoy your purchase!

I had the same experience, really nice jacket and great customer service but unfortunately it didn’t quiet fit how I wanted.

I contacted them prior to purchasing as I wasn’t sure which colour I wanted, they sent me both colours whilst only paying for one and then just said return the one I didn’t want or both if needed. Super fast refund as well.

That's a shame they didn't fit, but amazing customer service!

Yeah they used to make a lot for films (though the real Skyfall one is Levis)

Only thing I hate about Matchless is they stick their logo / badge on the jacket in horrible places (screen accurate film versions dont have em)

Their stonewashed leather is fantastic. Comes up about a size smaller but it doesn’t need wearing in at all.
