    Explorer 11/216570 - discount

    Morning all

Is it realistic to get a discount on this model? Just ask I know, but before I do I wanted to know if anyone had a relationship with a dealer that I could tap into. As always thank you for any assistance.

Not with AD, but you can get a decent discount from grey dealers. I purchased mine from global watches in north London with 5% off.

You'll struggle to get much if anything. Demand and thus secondary prices for other professional models like the Subs and GMTs have risen so strongly that there is inevitably a side-ways transfer of sales to the Exp II, the only other model in that style which is readily available.

If you could get a new one with 5% off I'd say stop looking and buy it, if it's the model you want.

Hi Fred. 16.67% off at Heathrow if it's there. They had a Sub Hulk at T3 this am (super early) but as Mrs Ryanb741 had deemed it a good idea to put liquids in every single one of the carry-ons we were taking which ended up delaying us a good 30 mins whilst they checked everything, thus making it a crazy rush for the gate then I'd have had the Hulk at a brilliant price

Won’t be able to find an AD in the uk offering a discount on these. Three reasons: demand appears very high, and they don’t stick around very long; Rolex have tightened dealer discounts; and the UK price is much lower than many places, once currency exchange is considered - demand is coming from many places, not just within the UK.

+20% VAT on return to UK though? Rolex only give discounts to those flying outside Eurozone.

Thanks everyone. Seems 5% is likely unless I go through Heathrow.

I always thought that but believe they are actually VAT paid just (for some unknown reason) discounted by the VAT amount.

Mind you, if that is the case presumably a non-EU buyer could reclaim the VAT and get even more off?!

Do you have to buy brand new? I recently bought an 8 month old one in perfect condition from Miltons in Liverpool for 5k. Could not be happier with the service or condition, the price matched the amount you would pay at Heathrow but without all this "do I don't I pay the VAT" issues.

Hamilton and Inches in Edinburgh, a Rolex AD, have one for under RRP.

Agree, an AD would not give a discount on that, id be surprised. Better off with grey market

The last time I had a discussion about discount on that model it was only 2% at manager discretion

Why would you pay 5k for a used watch when you can order an explorer within 2 weeks for 200 cheaper ?

That would be my route. I personally think they make a good secondhand purchase if found at the right price in the current sports line up.

It’s the one Rolex that I regret selling the most.

Perhaps it's a 16570 that could work for you as there's loads around and much below current RRP of the 42mm.....

I feel I want some orange in my life so the 16570 isn’t for me. I can’t imagine the waiting list on these us too long if one did go AD.

I will look at a fee second hand prices, anyone selling?
