With too much time on my hands, I went about fashioni g my own version of the NDC strap offered for sale by others. Applying the same 'what can I use for a strap' logic as those original French servicemen, I rummaged around and came up with this. Made from an original British issue Helmet strap, it just about fits and required little stitching. I find the elastic softer and more comfortable than the original NDC elastic and even more so than the copied elastic now offered in different colour schemes.
