HELP required setting up refurbished Apple wireless keyboard

Received an Amazon UK sourced, refurbished Apple wireless keyboard this morning and 'paired' it with my iMac … but the e i o u keys do not generate their characters … the 'a' and all the consonant keys work ok

The old keyboard works OK . Both keyboards are set to British English. I've tried reset defaults but still no joy.

I contacted the Amazon retailer i.e. cfa INNOVATIVE REFURBISHMENT but they advise as the order was fulfilled and shipped by Amazon they cannot assist

I cannot envisage Amazon being of much help with a technical issue . Replacement keyboard is working but not working properly . The old keyboard although working is past its best and needs replacing … hence ordered the replacement

Are there any TZ UK, Apple / Mac experts who might be able to offer some advice to enable full functionality of the replacement refurbished keyboard ? It is a refurbished genuine Apple keyboard in new condition and not one of the cheapo clones

    Thanks

Doesn’t sound like a technical issue- just that the keyboard is faulty.
Just get it returned and replaced via Amazon

These links may help but does sound as if it is faulty

I'd demand a refund. Sounds like vowel play.

Thanks … already read those links …. and others … but they are of no help

I'm just wondering if there is something very obvious that I may have missed?

Faulty wireless Apple keyboard are frequent. My one purchased new in June 2017 started to ignore some of the keys within three months. Replaced by Apple without a problem. It is a known problem, you should easily get a full refund, whatever the company says - Amazon will help you.

I've ordered anther refurbished Apple wireless keyboard from anther Amazon seller … second time lucky I hope

£39 refurb is much cheaper than a new item from e.g. John Lewis or PC World … my two nearest stockists.

Almost vowelled I'd never use Amazon again for refurbished IT products … but decided to try again ;)

Beware using the same seller. He's known for his vowel movements.

Word of warning: I purchased the exact same product from Amazon Refurbished about six months ago and it turned out to be fake.

My wife used it for months without issue but when I compared it to the one that came with my iMac it was obviously wrong (different font, darker lettering, different key texture).

Those differences do not necessarily indicate the keyboard was a fake

Ordinarily no, but I can’t believe Jony Ive would have signed off on this spacing ;) https://imgur.com/FNuplmL

Another refurbished Apple keyboard arrived this morning direct from an Amazon seller … and it's fine … and has 18 month guarantee :)

Glad to hear it. I looked out the reseller of my wireless refurb and it was sold by PCsAndParts, came with a 1 year warranty and has worked perfectly. Superfuzz mentioned that the keys were of a different texture and clearly not Apple. I can confirm mine was similar, when I compared it to an Apple model in work. However the underside of the keyboard showed the correct Apple markings and part number. So the refurbishers obviously have a stock of different keys and mechanism to fit inside the shell.

As Dunc says, a LOT cheaper than any of the new ones, which also have the less tactile and lower profile keys.
