So, my Karcher seems to have lost any kind of pressure it had and I need to replace it with a better one.
It needs to clean cars, jetski, mucky Defender etc. So ideally needs to be quite powerful, but still electric. Do I go for a newer Karcher like they have in Halfords, or try a different brand?

I started a similar thread a while ago, and went with a Nilfisk. It's been used a lot and it still working perfectly.

I switched to Nilfisk after 15 years of Karcher ownership and have not looked back. Great product, especially if you get one with the reinforced hose to eliminate kinks
Had read that new Karchers were all plastic parts. Costco seem to have some strong deals now & again.
The car forums seem to suggest Nilfisk for quality & durability. Never used one, but friends rave about them. My 15yr old Karcher refuses to die, annoying as it was a low powered one purchased on a budget !!

Nilfisk are great for a budget jetwash.
Mines about 4 years and has been faultless.

I like the sound of Nilfisk. Looking on Amazon, they seem to range from 110 psi up to around 145 for under £300. I realise the more psi the more pressure you get. But is there a sweet spot for non commercial stuff?
Interestingly, the Aldi one is 150 bar, which is higher still. I think I still prefer the Nilfisk brand. I had spotted a similar thread on Pistonheads, but it was from a while ago.
I find 140 bar to be about right. They also do a very good car washing nozzle as you need to be careful what attachment you use as you get up to the more powerful models in case any paint is loose!
Nilfisk are very good. Had a Karcher for years but switched to Nilfisk.

I’ve had some pretty rubbish ones over the years. It would appear that the key is metal gears in the pump assembly. Cheaper units tend to have plastic / nylon parts which don’t last.
I’ve had a Nilfisk C120 for 5 years and no problems to date. Plenty of power for domestic use.
Kranzle very good but expensive. You’d need to use it frequently to justify the cost imho.
I have a Stihl electric one that seems very good so far

I have X5 karcher since 2005 still strong & gets hammered weekly.
Wickes were selling them for £175 so got another just in case this one dies.

Be sure to store it where frost can ‘t reach the machine. The plastic inners will freeze up, crack the parts and then the machine is ‘gone’.

Nilfisk are good value and last longer than Karcher. The Karcher patio cleaner is way better than the Nilfisk cleaner and can be used with an adaptor.
I bought a K7 from elitecarcare last year and have absolutely no regrets. I've no doubt it'll be the last pressure washer I ever buy, it's built like a tank.
If you're looking at a Karcher or Nilfisk - Nilfisk appears to be the one to buy, their motors are made from aluminium as opposed to plastic in the Karcher. For domestic use, flow rate is more important than PSI per se. 7 Ltrs/Min and 120psi is really all you'll ever need.
I would second the nilfik I bought mine 5 years ago from screwfix for £75 and just did a days power washing of the block paving with it
I have a Karcher Full Control which is ample for my needs (monoblock, paving, car). That said, it’s my fourth Karcher as they always pack in after a couple of years. I think I might buy some sort of Petrol pressure washer further down the line.

I agree wholeheartedly. Kranzle are serious tools rather than DIY toys.
I went Nilfisk. Pro Great bit of kit. Even rods drains if you have an issue.

Switched to Nilfisk after my Karcher broke down after many recommendations. I have not been disappointed.
In need of a new pressure washer looking at getting a Nilfisk p150, but then reading about Kranzle machines I’m liking the k 1152 tst but cannot justify the extra £300 over the Nilfisk are they really worth the extra money ? It will only be used for home duties.
I would say yes, they work very well, last a very long time and if it does go wrong is serviceable with parts being readily available.
We’ve had a Nilfsk for a couple of years, last year the high pressure hose sprung a leak so I sent them a note asking for the best place to get a replacement and they sent me one for free so can’t fault their service.
I do a lot of car detailing and have always used Nilfisk , they last me about 10 years of heavy use
Wickes still have the X5 for less than £200, my previous one lasted 13 years & still going strong as gave it away.
Bought a karcher 5 years ago. Fairly cheap basic model with patio cleaner. Still going strong.
If it broke tomorrow I would just buy the same one again .

Garage door installers had a Kranzle Aquaspray of the dimension of a garbage bin - seemed high quality. I bought the home version (much smaller and of a lighter grey/blue colour) which still is very good, e.g. for the car or the patio paving.
