Are there any markings inside the caseback? If it is gold then there should be either hallmarks or import marks, which will date the watch and tell you the gold content.
Hi all
I have been asked by a colleague if I could help him with some information on a watch he has been given from a family member to keep in the family.
All he knows is that it is gold, has a swiss jewelled movement and pushing 100 years old. It has a hinged back with 45523 stamped and underneath a small 5.
Anyone any ideas? If so appreciated in advance.

Just a thought, you might get some more help from one of the resident watchmakers with a different thread title. With only that ‘M’ marking on the movement, you probably need someone who can recognise the style of bridge, balance etc. and other details to identify the movement.
Appreciated
