    Deliberating between these 2

With my birthday in 3 weeks time I want to mark the occasion with a watch, I’m currently torn between these two.

    Panerai 1351

    IWC 371808

The Pam is brand new and the IWC is 2016 but like new. They are around the same price, and before anyone says it I’m not allowed both !
I know everything is personal choice but I am struggling to choose between these two.
Which would you choose and why ?
The Panerai is 20% off list, the IWC is around 45% off list but isn’t brand new

Not a big fan of the Panerai as I prefer a Radiomir, but it wins over the IWC. The dial on the Iwc is just too busy by far, much prefer the simplicity of the Panerai.

    The Panerai 100%.

The PAM all day long. 2 yr warranty. Lovely simple dial. And I love that touch of blue on the small seconds hand.
However I am biased as am a huge Paneristi....

The Pam is the winner here.

That PAM for sure. It’s quite stunning.

PAM for me too. Not convinced by the blue seconds hand though. Seems a little pointless, doesn't really combine with the rest of the dial and the painted finish (as often) makes it look a little cheap.

I would be in the same quandary as you as I like them both.

Would you mind if I said “neither”. There are nicer offerings from both brands. If however it’s definitely between these two then I’d say....PAM....but....that painted blue hand is not the best.

Out of those two choices the Panerai - although ridiculously overpriced IMHO - looks much nicer on the wrist so would be my choice.

I'll also plump for the Panerai. That IWC is not for me at all and I say that as an IWC owner.

They are 2 very different watches to be torn between. Personally I prefer the IWC but that's only because I've never liked any Panerai ever.

I'd favor the IWC in this comparison.

But for me they are both handsome but very large timepieces.

At one time I would have said the IWC but these days, it’s the Pam, and I like the blue hand

Of these two, the IWC for me, but then I like chronographs, although that dial has a lot going on.

Thanks, I think I’ll go back and try the Panerai again 👍

  26. #26
    Panerai for me too.

The dial of the IWC is too busy. But that’s a very subjective opinion based on aesthetics.

    IWC

For me the IWC is stunning and is the easy winner!!

I’m not a massive Panerai fan though but they are growing on me as I get older??

Not a bad problem to have though choosing between those two?!?!

The simplistic clean look of the Panerai wins it for me & that little blue hand is a nice touch

Anyone else think the word ‘Automatic’ is totally unnecessary on the PAM dial?

You could say that about a lot of watches I suppose. Doesn’t bother me. Now Rolex putting ‘superlative chronometer ‘ on the dial mildly irritates me. But the their movements are quite superlative.

IWC rattrapante for me but it would have to be an early small font version.

Oh I have one of those.... so I'm biased too lol

Panerai for me also but I too am biased, my username is a giveaway.

I have the 312 which was my first panerai and I love it. I find the in house 3 day movement isn’t as accurate/reliable as say a Rolex.

I like the blue second hand but I am less keen on the automatic text.

20% of the Panerai seems like a good deal, I couldn’t even get a free strap thrown in with my 312 but that was about 8 years ago.

If you was considering a portugeser with the 8 day movement I’d probably have sided with the IWC.

Nice quandary to have, good luck with whatever you choose.

Unless you're asking whether there are any particular problems with either of these watches, I've never really understood these threads. Buy the one that makes you happiest and enjoy.
