Players appear to be unathletic, not much contact with the ball and generally a bit of a dull game, even when a ball is hit.
Now I’m a cricket fan, so I get that can be a slow sport, but the stadium for this game is rammed, must be 60k people there.
I enjoy a game of beach rounders, 3 good balls and you run, contact or not. This major league stuff seems boring in comparison.

I was across the pond a few years ago visiting freinds. They live in Pittsburgh and we went to watch Pittsburgh Pirates play Chigago Cubs and a fantastic atmos, fun for all the family. I have to admit I did not have a clue about the game, but still very enjoyable.
I’m not a baseball fan but went to see the Yankees twice a few years back.
People just have different ideas on what is interesting, fun or enjoyable. I can’t stand cricket or rugby but am a football man. Others hate football and love the others. Just the way things are.
I suspect a baseball fan may say the same about cricket.

I lived in the US for a couple of years and still travel there frequently.
I loved baseball, and found the basics of the game easy to pick up. Just last weekend I happily whiled away a couple of hours watching a Yankees game on TV. That said, I always found baseball to be much better live than on TV, whereas American football (and ice hockey, coincidentally) was much better on TV than live.
Partly the reason for this was that live baseball never seems to suffer the break in the action for TV commercials that dogs American football.
But also there seemed to be much more going on at baseball that involved the crowd - the opening pitch, fly balls that people would catch, the seventh-inning stretch, etc. I can't imagine, for example, that Ferris Bueller's Day Off really would have worked had it featured a football game rather than a baseball game!

I was visiting friends in Philadelphia during 2009 when the Phillies had just won the World Series and we decided to watch a game.
I really enjoyed the experience from the baseball itself, the atmosphere, having a cold beer in the stand and other fan activities in the stadium. I remember the stadium didn’t start getting full until the 2nd innings though.
I’m no baseball or cricket fan but as neutral I would rather watch baseball over cricket and yes I have watched both live in a stadium.
Went to see the Mets in New York - just realised it was 10 years ago (!). The whole experience was great with the atmosphere, food and drink sellers with their catch phrases etc. Actual action over the 3 or 4 hours seemed to last about 10 minutes!
When Channel 5 showed MLB many years ago after its traditional 9pm soft porn movie (very early days of C5) I got really interested in it, found it to be a great sport.
Cricket, on the other hand, you couldn't pay me to watch that, despite being made to play it at school. In fact, maybe because of being made to play it at school.
why is it called ‘world series’ when it’s not a global game?
The actual experience of going to a MLB game was fun, but very drawn out but I felt the same way when I went to a test match for the day.
I’ve been to 3 games, first one was in Tokyo and was incredibly boring didn’t see a single run, couldn’t tell you who we saw and really had zero knowledge about the game.
Second one was the Mets and we went with a fanatic who had debenture seats, went for about 1.5 hours after dinner and he was trying to explain loads of details and stats but it all went over my head, main thing I remember was him explaining the seventh innings stretch and how low the planes were over the stadium.
Third was a Yankees late afternoon Saturday game about 15 years later, very family orientated which was great because went with the family and we all really enjoyed it, great atmosphere and we even saw a bases loaded grand slam home run, had watched a bit on TV prior to this so probably helped that had a bit more knowledge of the game by then.
As others have mentioned, just the experience of going to a live game was great.
The stadiums are something to behold and with beer and food on tap on a summer evening it was a nice way to spend a few hours.

Completely agree with that i've been to 6 parks in the US, all different and all good experiences. I still don't pretend to understand baseball but it's a great night out.
I’ve got back into baseball this year after a long hiatus. Like others, I watched a lot when it was on Channel 5. I’ve seen games in Yankee Stadium twice, Rogers Centre (then the SkyDome, Toronto), Minute Maid Park (Houston), and Dodger Stadium (LA). This year I subscribed to MLB At Bat which allows me to watch almost every game live or delayed with recaps and condensed games too.
I’ve supported the Yankees since I lived outside of New York when I was 9 back in 1979/80. This year I have watched around half their games in full with the rest condensed down to 8-10 minutes. It’s been great to see how the rosters change over the season and see new players come up and make an impression.
When I watch a full game I am usually up to something else too. It’s great to have on in the background, like a test match is.
As for why it’s called the World Series, it has been claimed that it was called this because the New York World sponsored it at the turn of the 20th Century. This is not the case. Have a read of this to find out more:

Been once, saw the 49ers play in SF in 1996. It was cold, damp and boring as, so nope not a fan.
Basketball on the other hand, oh yes please! Non-stop action and skill, magnificent.
Baseball? Nah. Ice hockey on the other hand... Love it. Used to subscribe to the NHL channel through my PS4. Funnily enough it was all down to playing NHL '95 with my mates back in the day that got me hooked.
Except for the constant stoppages... nearly 4hrs to watch a 48 min game last time I went

IMHO basketball, ice hockey and american football all suffer from the same affliction.

Last time I was in New York, I went to watch the Yankees play someone, I can't remember who. I found it pretty dull, but very confusing, what I did see was, that to make it more enjoyable, the locals ate and drank a lot, maybe that's where I went wrong.
I too enjoy cricket, so appreciate a slow game, but I was lost with baseball.

I had a nice balmy evening watching San Francisco giants back in the day, enjoyed it and watch games on tv in uk when on.
It was when Barry bonds was playing and he since has been caught up in controversy a bit!

Or really any adult who didn't get into a specific sport as a youth. I have never had any interest in football so when I went to my first match in my late 30s I find it very very boring.

I go to visit my brother in Baltimore about once a year and normally go along to the baseball. I didn’t enjoy it much the first couple of times until I got my around it not being all about what is happening on the pitch. It is more of a social event where they will come and serve beer and hotdogs to your seat and then at the end of one game they had a very impressive firework display.
Having said all that, the last game we went to was absolutely dire and ruined the experience a little, so obviously the game plays a small part in the day 😄
