It's a Timefactors Royal Engineers NATO, a great match colour wise for the Flieger even if one is representing British Forces and the other German!

Lovely idea for a thread. My first automatic was chosen after I tried an IWC Pilots watch on. I googled pilots watches and discovered a wonderful little watch shop near Harbourne where I bought this Temption. Further searches led me to Damasko and Timefactors, spoke to Eddie and found the forum.

Tempfort: I’ve owned a Temption and regret selling it on a few years ago. Never seen that particular model, though. Love it and the Schauer as well.

Thank you, it is an Olympic CM02, now discontinued.
Schauer make lovely watches. Having tried a Quarada I think I will buy one on a special occasion.

I got in early for the Kickstarter for this one - the Helgray Le Mans. It's quite nicely made but I'd prefer the sub-dials to be a bit closer to the centre. The supplied strap is slightly creaky. Appealing brushed case with polished sections, though the area between the lugs isn't as beautifully finished and is rather visible since it only comes on a strap.

Being a Kickstarter, it didn't originally have the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Fortunately (or was it planned all along?) they hit their targets so those were included.

I’m really pleased with how the thread is already shaping up... quite a few brands I was unaware of. I’ll add some more of my own as soon as I wear them.
This is a seriously handsome watch, can you only get kemmner second hand now? I can't find a website.

Love the West End Watch Co Tibetan numerals I ordered mine in they had none in the UK. Quality is pretty good I assume you got yours on the bracelet too?

Anyway, back on topic here is a Tourby Ottoman

Hiya, thanks, the Tibetan numerals weren't available in the UK for me, either, but I nagged the seller to import the piece for me. Now, I took the opportunity to ask you about quality because I was (and still am) rather disappointed with the case and bracelet, and I wanted to see what other (not so easy to come by) owners think. I won't link to my rant on another forum or paste long OT here but let me know if you want to continue in PM. Cheers.

I got mine because of the dial, its hard to find an eastern Arabic dial and West End Watch Co were not only one of the few that produce one but also had a good historical connection to the Middle East. You can get vintage versions but usually they are in average to poor condition and I would rather have a new watch to avoid the obvious pit falls (Service costs, new bracelet etc) That would have almost certainly drag the price back up to that of a new watch anyway.

Now back to the watch I have, I like it because of the reasons above. The bracelet isnt the best and feels hollow but then on the plus side its light and because of its shape it wraps around the wrist and fits a lot more comfortably than other more expensive watch bracelets I have that I have ended up swapping. The case is nothing remarkable but nothing I havent seen from other micro brands/small companies.

In short, I like it because its what I wanted (Similar to my Sewills or RLT) I posted my thoughts here just for anyone else reading and interested in West End Watches but will drop you a PM to avoid the thread going off topic.

These three for me. Love the fact that you can wear them and not have to worry about being too precious with them. Watches for wearing as opposed to safe queens which are for admiring ( I do have one though).

lovely thread. just musing why these mico brands are so nice. would it be because they are usually small runs of watches, so the designers can be braver and push the design envelope a bit further? either way i find the designs a lot nicer than most of big mainstream brands, which are trying to pander to the lowest common denominator, so cant take the risks of stuff not selling.

i could be way off the mark though, sunday afternoon musing and all that.

I've always had a fascination for micro brands and I've owned a few. This is my current favourite. A Mark One Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military. A great timekeeper too. It looks so much nicer with a fully brushed case.

Just this recent acquisition, Halios Laguna Mk2. Great thread and I will be doing a little research on the Karlskruna (?) Nordic Shield, and Ginault. Nice.

I’d have said so. Bought the 39 from a friend who just didn’t get on with it. I love it. Probably my favourite watch in my collection now.

I had forgotten about the Szanto. It doesn't get worn a lot but when it does it always attracts attention, even when the strap is correctly fastened!

No association, but I recently wandered into this store in Singapore and spent a very interesting 40 mins chatting with the knowledgeable staff about micro-brands:
    https://wonderland.watch/

Turns out that Singapore has over 60 small local brands - one of the highest concentrations in the world outside of Switzerland/Germany, apparently. Some interesting (international) stuff on their web site.

Today’s watch... a Zeno SBS PVD.

As far as I’m aware it started life as a Broadarrow before being redialled as a Zeno (the manufacturer). A very similar look as the CWC SBS.

Currently wearing the excellent Dan Henry 1963. But for design excellence (backed up by strong build) the new UNIMATIC is hard to beat. Mine is currently on SC, but only because I’ve been a very naughty boy....
