Kerry that looks really smart, unlike your Road bikes ( cycles) I can sit on the Thruxton and touch the floor! , I have to say the mods you have done are quality. We could have a nice weekend of riding ahead so let’s enjoy it it folks

Ps very French headlight, clearly Brexit aware

Yellow headlight is not only a little retro it also gets everyone’s attention over white which I appreciate.

    It’s a Triumph it’ll spot and tarnish / rust
To death if it sees the tiniest grain of salt but it’s a lovely lovely ride and a lot of fun with TC turned off in sport mode

Yep, something different in people's rear view and side mirrors doesn't hurt!

I’m not convinced by that torpedo fairing. I suppose its to tie in with the overall retro look, bu deffo a marmite bit for me. Probably serves a purpose though as well.

Its funny Stuart as neither was I , I brought it without despite being offered it for free really then as the bike grew on me and I began to tweak I felt that as a Cafe Racer it had to have it and now I love it. But deffo Marmite as almost every forum is someone asking should I or shouldn’t I which shows how divided the opinion is

Looks good in both guises, but.............

The one on the BMW R9T Racer - works better aesthetically

Though looking at the huge discounts the local dealer was doing on the R9T Racer at the end of last season, whilst it looks great, the riding position doesn't suit the target market

I fitted a pair of those to my mates street triple a couple of weeks back....big improvement..

As for me....110 miles around mid Wales.... absolutely delightful way to spend a few hours..

I’ e got the bar end mirrors on mine as well Tony. I find they vibrate ever so slightly and give a slight blur to the view behind. Nothing much but noticeable. I also have a set of Rizoma mirrors which I may fit. Not bar ends but wicked looking, had em on me last striple.

Oh, mine are perfect, as they were on the Triple I tested. Maybe they just need refitting?

Did you get a few miles done today?

Great blast out today with my lad. Nearly 100 miles in fairly short order.

First ride this year. Lovely weather for it and not even that much traffic.

No mate, filming down in Coventry for 2 days now. Back home tomoz and got a pile of editing to do, and then next weekend I’m off to Catalans filming. I’ll get out on me bike soon though.

This weekend has probably been the best early February day for riding for years. 105 miles yesterday ( only set off at 2:45) and following helping a stranded Buell rider we arrived home in the dark. Thank heavens for Klim clothing and heated grips.

Same here. It was even warm enough for summer gloves. A real blast in the German Eifel around the Nürburgring.

It’s not my usual style, I’d much prefer a sports tourer, but due to some quite bad knee issues, I’m limited to forward control, which is an option on the Bobber..

In saying that, up to now I’ve found the bike to be really great fun to ride, more than enough grunt for my sedate riding style nowadays, comfy enough for the small tank range, and to be fair the handling surprised me...

It’ll never be a long distance tourer, or a back lane missile, but as a cafe hopper it’s a bit of a winner in my book..

Like I say, I’m a bit limited physically, but I’ve done a few 150 mile days, and it’s put a smile on my face...

Oh and over 1500 miles my average MPG is just over 60....👍👍

With knackered old knees I do like a stretched out riding position, but with little legs that position can't be too stretched out.

My riding is a mix of short commute, (need room for sandwich box), popping into town/shops (need room for a bag for life) and occasional weekends away (needs clothing, shoes, jumpers etc etc).

I like to be sat upright and I like to be comfortable. I like to cruise about gently, but also like to go a bit mental on occasion.

Having one bike that fits all these needs is quite tricky. At the moment the R1200R with Givis is doing ok, though there would be far more options if manufacturers did decent luggage options, or even if I could fit a tow bar for my trailer for those longer trips.

The seat is adjustable forwards and backwards which gives a bit more or less leg room....

As for your other requirements, I suspect the Bobber is a bit limiting on carrying capacity.... I have the little swing arm saddle bag which is handy for a disc lock, a bottle of water and a few bits n bobs, I also fitted an aftermarket rack on the rear mudguard, and use it with a cargo net. Then there’s always the rucksack, and the dedicated triumph panniers, which I may invest in if I fancy a weekend camping in the future...

Go try one, it may surprise you👍👍

    Todays pics..

Barmouth mid Wales, about an hour and a half from here.
Fantastic run up into Wales, virtually no traffic, no police, 70 ish miles of superb roads to work up an appetite for a coffee and bacon sammich for lunch.

Not me on the wall btw....I think he just liked the cb thou....hahahaaaaaaa

About 30 mins later, across estuary to Fairbourne....avoiding toll road. Took about 30 mins...time for another coffee.... there's always time for good coffee...

Really cool narrow guage, runs like clockwork along the fortified coastline for 3 miles.
Great place to stop for another coffee and watch the world go by.

Coffee'd out, departed Fairbourne and headed for Towyn, saw two gulls on wall, deserved a pic I thought. Tried for a closer shot, but they weren't having the paperazzi treatment....

    Parked up at Tallyllyn....

Beautiful run down through the glaciated valley. Those that have seen the Mach Loop aviation vids on youtube will be familiar with the terrain. No fighter jets today though...booo!

Then on to Machynlleth, for another coffee followed by a chilled ride home...with detours just under 300 miles....fab day....

Ah Barmouth. Thats usually our target destination when we go out for a ride. As you say, some lovely roads leading in and around there. That will be our first ride out for me and my main ride buddy when we both get a free weekend and the weather is good. As we are in Warrington, we go via Mold, Ruthin, and Bala. Stop at Bala for a brew, usually pop into The Last Inn in Barmouth for a bit of food and a cheeky shandy. The chippy by the harbour is good there, as is Davy Jones Locker, a small cafe on the harbour. I cant wait just thinking about it now.

    Me too!

I looked at one at the bike show; it’s more powerful and lighter than my 916 was but with a riding position that isn’t going to cripple you after 30 minutes.

Yes, I agree. Having owned a 748 (same dimensions as your 916) I had to stop after 30 minutes or so in absolute agony. I bought it new (without trying one) as I was young and it looked stunning but sold it after 9 months with less than 700 miles on the clock. Shoulders, neck forearms and wrists, god those wrists.

I've read quite a few "real life" reviews in MCN and Bike magazine which seems to indicate how ideal it is for UK riding. The raised bars look similar to those on my ST3, and the power output similar to my 749s. I've looked at one in my local dealership and the only downside for me is that it's not a true tourer, which I need. The pillion seat is way too small and the luggage capacity is down too. I also believe that pillion grab handles are an option?

That said for single riding for long weekend trips this seems ideal. I think the styling is great too..very Panigale from the front, which is no bad thing in my book.

Thanks very much. I'm only now beginning to really appreciate its style and slight quirkiness having really been focussing on the 'modern classics' for so long.

In other news, I took my son on the back a couple of days ago - first ever pillion. Once I was up to speed it didn't feel that different, but pulling away (particularly at low speed) was a bit challenging.

That said for single riding for long weekend trips this seems ideal. I think the styling is great too..very Panigale from the front, which is no bad thing in my book.
Mine actually has the bar raiser spacers fitted, however my throttle wrist does get tension after a ride, but it hasn't impacted me doing weights in the gym.

This is my first bike and after trying sitting on a panigale which felt far too aggressive and due to insurance premiums I settled for the supersport. I can't take a pillion as the exhaust needs them removed to be fitted

Love this bike and as you have said the styling is very similar to the panigale, everyone is always commenting on the looks and design.
