Congrats, not quite as ruinous potentially as collecting watches

I got one minor on Mod1 - 49kph on the avoidance (having done the emergency stop at 58, I over-compensated a bit). On Mod2 I got 3 minors - 2 missed signals (don't remember them) and 1 for "use of speed", apparently I moved from 30mph to 40 a few yards in advance of the sign. I thought I'd made more mistakes tbh.
Anyone seen pics of the new Triumph Speed twin due out next year

^^^ Thanks. Just got to finalise the bike decision now.
Triumph was not brave enough for a bathtub design.

I have had a look, although my favourite Ducati at this stage would have to be a Scrambler 1100...
I like the simplicity of this bike - although it does have some sophisticated electronics, and I like the looks and seating position. The noise is also pretty good! On the other hand, I'm not sure air-cooled is the way to go...
However, my most likely choice is to go for an F750GS:
I think this bike will satisfy my needs for the foreseeable future, at the same time as being easy to own.
Went round the Triumph Visitor Experience (free museum at the factory) today. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours
the new triumph speed twin looks great. im sure they'll be at the nec? speaking of the nec, being going for years but never seem to get any good deals on kit there any more.
Belated congratulations on this thread to both Tony and downer.

Passed my Mod 2 this morning, such a great feeling and relief to having now got my licence since my initial pre CBT assessment.
Happy biking :)

I'm still smiling :) on another note what jeans did you go for?

Jeans OK for summer, but not warm enough for winter IMHO.
Rukka are good, but very expensive & unless you need the ultimate in weather protection perhaps a bit OTT.

I'm kind of stuck with bottoms, was looking at bull it covec jeans, any views on them?

Well, my bike goes in for its 500 mile service in the morning, and I seem to have booked out a Street Triple R for a couple of hours of testing whilst mine is in the workshop. Its a bit tall for me (I'm on tiptoes on it) but I threw a leg over the low ride height version whilst I was in the dealership and I can flat foot on that one. None of this bodes well.
You can slide your bum over the seat to get one foot flat for traffic lights etc. One thing to watch is the road camber as it can make one leg have to go down much further than expected. I used to ride tall trail bikes so they do take a bit of getting used to but you don’t have to be able to put both feet fully down all the time. Also if the seat narrows (as on a trail bike) slide forwards.
Just don’t ride into any parking at the side of the road- I always “reverse” in now makes getting out far easier when the camber is against you.

Can someone tell me what the bike is in the picture that you can see in the forum before you click on the thread (I am sure there is a more accurate way to describe it!). It is a black Ducati of some sort and is stunning!!

Well, I took the Triple out for a two hour test, and absolutely fell in love with it. So much power on tap, and so light and manageable.
When I got back to the dealership, I was offered a potential "upgrade" that saw all my money back on the Twin, including what I spent on accessories (remember I got a hefty discount due to the new model), so i've basically just traded it in against a Street Triple R in jet black.
My thinking was that if I waited a few months I'd get hammered on the trade-in price, and with the new model widely available I'd find it near impossible to sell privately. This does mean that I have no discount on the price of the Triple, but all in all it's a not a bad result.
The Triple is as fast as I could ever want, much lighter (30+kg) than the Twin and is even narrower, so a joy to filter on and manoeuvre in and out of traffic. On the motorway it's an absolute joy. I think it really was the best decision I could have made.
Nice one Tony, I'm sure a lot of people including myself suggested this bike about 10 pages ago, glad you got there in the end though, knew you'd outgrow that street twin quickly, if you're going to have a bike it's more fun having a fast one
Add to that, that the ‘2 feet flat on the ground’ is a non issue. But it was hard to tell you this when it was one of your main fears.

Yes, you guys were right all along. I think I was just a but scared of the extra power (its 116 bhp, compared to the 54 bhp of the twin), but having got about 1000 miles under my belt now on large bikes it really isn't an issue. I think I was lucky to come out of it relatively unscathed, though.
Well done Tony , cracking bike and the fact you washed your face on the speed twin plus extras. Just watch the greasy roads now that your right hand has just been upgraded too!
Now wheres the address of the ACF50 man!!!!
