Have you still got the Street Scrambler? How you finding it?

Still got it. Still loving it.

I was worried that it wouldn't be good on longer runs, but did a 600ish mile weekend away on it without any problem. Just need to be realistic about pace etc.

I do still look at other bikes as I sometimes think I'd like something faster or more luxurious or more suited to a pillion or dafter but for now the Street Scrambler is doing just fine (my autotrader watch list has an Africa Twin 1100, a Z H2 SE and a Hyperstrada in at the moment).

Just had the 5,000 mile service - bit spendy as it needed front brake pads - and the only other issue was the steering head nut was loose, so yesterday I treated myself to a 38mm socket to sort that out. The dealer couldn't do it as my sat nav mount was in the way.

Good stuff mate sounds like you’re enjoying it, which year model did you buy and a daft question but does it come with a gear indicator.

I bought the 2019, so the one with the improved front forks, brakes and 64bhp engine rather than the original 2017 model's 54bhp

Yes it has a gear indicator, but I tend to work off engine note and feel rather than looking at the numbers. Similarly I never have the rev counter on the display.

If you want to see the spec and what it's got, Triumph handily put the manuals online.https://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/owners/manuals

Still thinking of a grab-and-go to sit alongside the Ducati?

I sat on a Multistrada 1260S when mine was in for service (this one - https://www.blademotorcycles.co.uk/u...60-s/93758.htm), and thought it fitted lovely, but I could see that getting it out of the garage would be an "event", where the Triumph is more accessible and gets used more often because of it.

The Multi for me is the perfect bike, it does everything, the perfect Sports Tourer bike, the weight is heavy when moving it and you have to be careful, I drive into my garage and have to wheel it back out, my garage slopes out onto the road so that's the bit where I have to concentrate on moving it safely and not dropping it (that's the only time I ever feel like it could go over lol).

I could look at one of those round discs where you can spin the bike tbh as the garage is a double and I could move the car over to the other side, tbh I dont know why I havent done that and then I can drive it in and out.
Anyway thats why I want something lighter for the second bike lol.

The Kawasaki H1 was a true widowmaker! I remember a guy running one on marine plugs eg early incarnation of Iridium plugs, as it melted conventional NGK plugs.

It had a fierce engine and a bamboo frame.

Just swapped my old 250 ( tame) triple two weeks ago, only to find the new owner has arranged for it to feature in a future edition of Real Classics Magazine, talk about sellers remorse :(

I thought it was the H2 750 that was really scary, the H1 500 being a little tamer?

All feeble by todays standards though but with the frame being made of string and no braking either from the brakes or engine, it was more than enough.

It would still be nice to have one though.

Dave I think the delivery of power on the H1 later the Mach3 was more brutal. Remember it preceded the 750 ( 1969) so riders were thinking a 500, must be like a Daytona or Honda 500T unfortunately it wasnt. The engine easily exceeded the chassis resulting in lots of “offs” The 750 came out in 1972.

You are right to say compared to today its mild . When a 180 bhp 190kg bike can be be bought for sub 10k or push the boat out out for 210bhp!

I remember the moto GP lads going through 200/220 bhp and we thought that was breathtaking……..

Not Kawasaki related but one of my pals had a very early CBX1000 , I remember him telling me he took it down the M53 towards Wallasey on the Wirral for a high speed run ( 135 from memory) said it took him all three lanes to stop the weave it was that bad!!

A friend of mine had a CBX1000 back in the day, and used to tell about a 'tank slapper' he got into in a tunnel. I think it might have been the Hatfield Tunnel, and I always wondered if he was exaggerating it. Probably not then!

Not at all, I only rode his CBX once on the road from Trawsffyndd to Bala. Its a lovely sweepy bikes road. Of course the acceleration was biblical and smooth until I found myself going into a corner a bit hot. I touched the brakes and it shook its head like an startled mare!

Talk to current CBX owners and they all run steering dampers, lust for Harris frame versions or simply talk about the crash

Saturday is new bike day, and it will be my fifth bike since I passed DAS back in 2018.

I have a nice little collection going now, and the dealer who I am getting the bike from refreshed their social media today with a couple of photos of their showroom.

My new one is the Honda. Looks great and weighs a ton!

    What a lovely thing...one day!

I remember from reading the reviews in the late 70's they were criticised for their primitiveness compared to the Japanese opposition but still regarded as superior in the handling department.

    More bike related stuff

    New bike day cometh!

Dropped off first thing whilst I had some jobs to do, so taunting me through the windows.

Had a quick blast and a couple of first impressions were that it is torquey, sounds great on the overrun, is top heavy (used to BMW boxers) and the rear tyre is probably the same width as the 125 I had my CBT on!

Now safely tucked away with its new brothers.

Enjoying the new (to me) bike yesterday. Did a good few miles to get properly acquainted.

Love the engine - loads of grunt and sounds really good & the gearbox - neutral first time, every time so far and it's lovely and smooth as Suzuki's tend to be.

Handling is pretty good, the brakes are good and the nice low seat is a real bonus for my short frame - comfy too.

I know it's not got all the latest toys, but even new these are a bit of a bargain. As a 2019 bike with 3,700 miles on the clock it was a super deal.

The CCM is up for sale. I wanted to slow down from riding my S1000rr, but I just missed the power too much.

    Wanted - Damasko DC57

the gsx-s has a great engine thats open to lots of tuning (if thats your thing) , i looked at one as aswell as an s1000r (seating position was too much like the speed triple) before getting the mt10 - as you say- price wise they are a bargain.

That looks like a lot of fun and Im sure very smooth to ride.

The times clearly not right at this stage and you may already have done this but if you havent Id really strongly recommend spending a couple of hours playing on a dealers Superduke 1290R at some point.

Imho the ideal street bike for an ex habitual sportsbike rider. Quite spectacular. Arguably less good overall value than the Suzuki though.

That would be perfect, if only they weren't so tall. I swung my leg over one - way too big for me. Shame.

Cracking day for a ride to Betteshanger for the 10th anniversary meeting of the Kent branch of the Ducati Owners Club GB.
There were lots of bikes and riders there (including Paul Hollywood - he didn't bring a cake, before you ask!) but I only took one picture
