No direct experience, but wonder how much they move the game on compared with their predecessor

I do like these and I was also very taken with the GSX1400 that was on SC recently but I was too slow with that one and it sold almost immediately as I enquired about it.
Unfortunately, the raving lunatic that I am married to has some very specific requirements, now I must be alert and be very aware of these requirements but be prepared to take a sharp left turn at any moment as they may all change tomorrow. One thing that does seem to remain a constant is a bench type seat, with something that can be added to stop her sliding off the back!
The two current front runners are the CB1100EX and the Bonneville T120.
I had a 2019 CB1100EX for about 6 months in 2020. I put about 4000 miles on it. It was a lovely old-school bike, great for bimbling around on and very comfortable. Of course, it was completely reliable and well built. A couple of downsides though. First, it was quite a heavy old bike and secondly, I found it ran out of power quite quickly, which made a few overtakes a bit more hairy than I'd like.
Overall then, a great bike with a super-smooth engine but lacking a bit of acceleration punch at A road speeds.
Out for a short blast on this today - you don’t think you’re going fast until you check the speedo…………….
Very ‘hard running’ engine, and I need to get used to the downshifts again.

One out, another in:
The Diavel has been great fun over the last 4 years or so, but I felt like something different.
I tested a few (many) bikes from different makers (Aprilia, KTM, BMW, Triumph, Ducati) and, while the SDR was a massive temptation (as was the Aprilia Tuono Factory), the Streetfighter V2 ticked many boxes, including the 'do you turn and look at it as you close the garage door' test.
I’ve got a 2013 CB1100 ABS. I guess it’s similar enough to the EX. I agree with downer. It does lack some punch, but it does at least partly make up for it with beautiful torque across the range. It is by no means a fast bike but the power is available from 3000 rpm to 8000 rpm very nicely. I wouldn’t worry about the weight, the torque will offset the weight of the pillion. The bike is also very agile on the move. I only notice the weight if I move the bike sans motor.
Overall it’s a great bike. A Honda. Reliable, if a bit soulless. It is good at everything but doesn’t excel at anything. It’s very easy to drive because it’ll run well even when you miss a shift. Very forgiving. Being a naked bike it’s not really comfortable at high speeds over longer periods of time. My personal cruising comfort level is around 130km/h.
Great for bimbling down country roads. Agile enough to be a nice city bike and it helps that the engine is good at low rpm. Not great if you want to drive hard or aggressive at licence losing speeds.
Thanks for that.
All plus points for me and why it seems a good fit. The drive from the integral garage is uphill and I usually push my bikes out of the garage before I start them, so the weight is definitely something else to consider. The R9T was no problem but this looks to be a fair chunk heavier
We still have our old R80GS, 1988 which we got in 1991 when she needed an MOT.

Bugger. I still can't post pictures!
That was from imgur... a couple of people are trying to teach me how to use it. I am struggling to understand their instructions!
Try again....

I bought Plake's Sargent Fireblade seat and this evening was my first chance to try it out properly, what a difference!
Instead of sliding around and trying to brace under acceleration, just sat lovely and planted, so much better.
If anyone had a slippy slidy seat and been on the fence about these, recommended from me
I might use about 20% of what the Blade can do, but still love riding it...these old 'uns are still a genuine bargain at the moment IMHO.
Nice. I had the 100 GS (in bumblebee) and didn’t know of the CS.

It was an advert in Classic Bike mag, back in 2004 that I was leafing through - that prompted me to say to the mag owner: “Look at that - Classic sports-tourer, spend a few quid making sure all is good, and that will take you around Europe for ten years and not lose any value. I fancy doing my bike test”
Did just that, the same year, but went for more modern wheels (a 2004 BoxerCup Replika). But- it was the ad for the 100 that sparked my interest!
Iconic bike!

New bike day for me. First ride for a couple of hours this morning. The feet forward controls feel a bit weird at first but you get used to them very quickly. Really comfy and is an absolute torque monster. Like a muscle car with two wheels. The Fat Bob 114....

Exactly how I felt about the GS1250. If you don’t look back once you parked and it doesn’t make you smile it’s not the one imho.
Looking badass Tony. Congratulations mate.
Here’s my new arrival, and I have to say it’s the best bike I’ve ever ridden, and by god I’ve ridden a few!

Deal done and I collect it next Saturday
I’ve had a bit of an epiphany of late, I’ll be selling some watches and doing a bit more of what floats my boat, life’s too short.
I fancy a bit of a rush so I might try listing a modern Rolex on SC.
