All the best Chris with your CBT.
Tomorrow a quiet day for me, picking up a new bike (to me).
No idea how I am going to sleep tonight, this one has been one I have admired.

Have a fun day, hopefully the weather stays good for you.
Look's like it will be a dry day for you, as others have said, have fun.
Perfect week to do a CBT and get out in the sunshine.
I remember the immense feeling of fun and freedom when I first started riding. I'm jealous!
Well......
Done all the classroom stuff. Got outside, walked around the bike, what's where etc.
Sat on it, started it, felt the clutch bite, was just about to pull away..........
.....
Then the other instructor shouted for me. One of the kids had been sick at school so I had to go pick them all up.
Booked back in for a months time.
Chris.

Bloody hell, Chris!!!
In other news, just booked myself onto a Bikesafe course with the Met in Bushey this coming Sunday. Really excited about it!
Edit: Note to self - remember to put the legal plate on the bike before Sunday!
Of course yes.l,, he is fine :) . Whole house has done LFT and all came up negative, took Dexter for a PCR test just to be safe, but looking like he just has a bit of a stomach bug. So cuddles and movies for a day or 2 and he will be fine.

I got pulled up for an illegal plate on the Bikesafe :-)
I've done 3 bikesafe courses now; 2 were the regular ones with an hour or so of an evening in a classroom for a few weeks followed by an observed ride and the last one was a rather different format.
The only thing I didn't like about the first 2 was the observed ride as I tend to find that the Police observers ride far closer than I was happy with and it was a severe distraction.
The last one was very different as it was run as a day at Castle Combe circuit; classroom and practical sessions in the morning (picking the bike up, low speed manoeuvring, recovering from a front wheel lock up etc) and a track day in the afternoon
Chris so sorry but kids come first!!!!!!
I would like to share my new edition, now officially out of space. It looks like I have gone from watches to bikes.
This is my Yamaha MT01, takes me back 14 years and to good memories.

I did a Bikesafe course from that venue about 3 years ago Tony.
Just a couple of us in our group - made it a good afternoon ride.
We headed up towards Baldock.
A tip: If you turn right out of the met sports centre at Bushey - there's usually a line of traffic waiting for the lights.
I was first to be assessed when we left and I got marked down for not filtering down the outside of the waiting line of cars. Bear in mind this was a minute into the assessment. Everything else he was pleased with.
He did ride relatively close to us - but I did as they said and just ignored them as much as I could. They're watching your use of controls.
He liked my de-cat exhaust "easy to hear you accelerate" he said :-)
I think I remember him saying "we're riders who happen to be Police" - so they enjoy opening it up when it's safe as much as anyone. I did plenty of overtaking and giving it the beans when we could.
Have fun - you'll enjoy it.
And so far the weather's looking good!
ETA:
I found my "assessment sheet"
If you want to know the categories - just say and I'll post here .. if you want a surprise, I'll leave it.

"Do you think the cans are too big?"
"Nah bigger the better"
- They look like a couple of bazookas.
Lovely classic bike.
I just double checked the stats .. massive torque from that 1.7litres V-twin as you'd imagine.
And I presume this hasn't had any influence from Euro emission regulations so runs and picks up nicely from low down??
No headsets - all hand signals from the Police to tell you when to change the lead rider.
As Gyp says stick to all speed limits in and around town - until its national speed limit.
I was often 10mph over in the 60 limit on the twisties - when it was clear and only when it was clear.
Here are the categories:
Junctions
Cornering
Filtering
Overtaking
Hazard Awareness (I beeped at a van coming out of a side junction - he liked this)
Correct Use of Speed ("make progress with your machine" is their recommendation :-)
Correct use of Brakes, gears and clutch
Signs & Signals
Attitudinal factors (buy him a coffee - be nice :-)
I got plus points for not beeping going over a hump back bridge...
"you should have used your horn there to warn slow or stationary road users as you crest the rise"
"there was no need, there was no-one on the other side"
"Come on, how did you know that?"
"the car 50 yards in front didn't touch their brakes or change line as they descended on the other side so there was no hazard"
"good spot!"
The one thing that was mentioned when I did a full day one-on-one with a police trainer was that I didn't use engine braking enough, especially on long down hill sections. He was quite happy with the motor revving its little (ok, 800cc) guts out on long descents so I didn't overheat the brakes.
Spot on Gyp the Policeman on the RT on my one day course said “ we are out for 90 mins , dont hang about!”
Within 300 yds of leaving the centre a rider in front of me ( being assessed by an IAM assessor) decided to jump across a roundabout like a loon. The barge like Police RT shot past me and bollocked the assessor!
My take was they want to see you making progress as a motorcyclist, thus the comments above re filtering. If an overtake presents that you can safely make, do it, dont ride over defensively or over cautious, they will pick you up on that. Dont ride like you are in a car, if that makes sense.
The video narrative during the morning was led by the chief trainer for Lancashire both cars and bikes and was excellent. No powerpoint droning , just short videos and practical discussions. I waited 18 months to go on the course and it was worth the wait.
Steve
The BMW R9T was also high on the list, but after I saw one and realise it was just to small for me, I had to jump when this came up.
Some TLC is needed in a few bits that are not obvious when you first look at her, but a bit of fun over summer.
I am also thinking of bikesafe course, a few years off riding and this will only help sharpen the skills.
Good riding over the next few days guys

Ask him for a test ride? I don't know if I'm the best person to give a review as I'm returning to biking after 35 years so haven't much to compare it to. I would say it's a lot of fun blatting about the lanes and it's also fine for urban riding (I've been in and around Manchester on it). I wouldn't want to tour Europe on it though or even do a regular motorway commute.
My longest trip on it to date was from Macclesfield to South Leicester and I deliberately mapped a 'twisty' 100 mile route there which was excellent. On the way back I was in a bit of a hurry so did a longish stint on the A50 which was less excellent. I'm sure the bike itself was fine at those but I present a big target frontage when pushing through the wind at 70+ mph. To be fair though, that's not a criticism of the Caballero itself - I would have the same problem on any bike of this style.
Weather just too nice this morning so the long way into work on the Tiger - 60km instead of the normal 33 - Blessington, Sally Gap, Old Military Road into Dublin. Glorious.
At long last we were (are) allowed out.....and the sun shone. So great to be back out on the bike again and finally get some pics of all the 'lockdown changes' I've made. So pleased with the end result!
Apologies for the number of pics......but it has been a long time ;o)

They look to be the same mirrors as on my Speed Twin

And you would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for the pesky cathedral ;) Hopefully don't see you and LTF floating around tomorrow not sure my will power could take it
If you want urban perhaps the St Neots graffiti bridge under the A1 would suit sir and his shiny bike?
Nothing fancy but changed oil and filters followed by its mot today
