    Enoch,

    What's the software you're using there?

    Also, are you same Enoch from the bobber forum? I just joined. Picking up my bobber on the 26th of this month all being well.

    It’s just a fun bike, not brilliant at anything, but good enough to BOB around on hear and there..

    Cheap to run too.

    Hi Bonesey....

    I use this https://darrensoft.ca/roadtrip/

    Unfortunately I think it’s Apple only, but it’s free, for one vehicle, and for a few quid it can be upgraded for many vehicles.
    I like it cos it’s simple..

    And yes, I’m the same Enoch as on the Bobber forum... it’s a very friendly helpful forum, with folk from all over the world.

    Congrats on the bobber... what spec??

    Small world eh? :) I'm RichScot over there.

    I've been combing through the forums researching and building a tentative list of modifications. For the time being it will remain stock, maybe next year get started on some small items.

    I've gone for standard bobber, in black (because plan on respraying so it was the cheapest) - LED lamp with DRL and cruise control, short LED indicators front and rear, heated grips (because UK), and the quilted brown seat.

    So my trip to Snetterton for 3 days on track did not quite go to plan.

    We had some properly fast guys out on Monday. It was the last day BSB (and support class) riders were allowed to ride before the upcoming race meet & this weekend it's a No Limits race meet, so loads of very fast guys out including Scott Reading & Danny Kent. I got myself moved down to Inters as I was mobile chicane in the fast group. By the afternoon I was in the groove & flowing quite nicely, then towards the very end of my last session (the 2nd last of the day) I felt the rear squatting a bit out of corners. When I went to put my rear tyre warmer on there was fluid on the swing arm all over the shock, so I called it a day.

    A wasted trip to try & get a quick damper service done without success Tuesday morning & I headed home, so 80% of 1 day vs the 3 planned.

    The bike is at Steve Jordans now & it will be a while until they can service the shock. I'm going to get the front forks serviced & a few others bits & pieces done whilst its with them.

    On the bright side I kept it shiny side up. Had the shock started leaking early in a session, oil on the rear tyre could have seen me on the deck.

    That was a lucky escape! Sorry your weekend was cut short though, unusual for a shock to let go- is it an older bike?

    The bike is a 2008 GSXR 750. The shock was fitted 2013 and since 2014 the bike has been exclusively used on track so in fairness it’s done a lot of work. I’ve not had it serviced either in that time and I really should have every couple of years. Lesson learned.

    Got back yesterday from a trip around the NC500.
    Superb scenery and roads (and the bike behaved brilliantly).
    Now time to catch up on emails, news and stuff.

    Route and tips would be appreciated.

    I wish my speedo gave me more than speed that most make things easier.

    People are getting fed up with these stickers spoiling the view.

    Quite possibly, but I didn't spot him. There were 150 or so riders.

    This is the route we took for the NC500 (and a bit extra), showing roughly where our overnight stops were.
    How you get to the start, at Inverness, depends on where you set off from.

    Tips: take insect repellent, travel as light as you can, wear comfortable bike gear but have effective waterproofs and a spare pair of gloves (plastic gloves from fuel pumps make it easier to get wet gloves on and off), make sure your bike is serviced and has good tyres (as in not too worn), take a puncture repair kit and chain lube, watch out for the edges of the roads and potholes when it's raining. Apparently it's a good idea to book accomodation early as what there is can get full.

    Really hankering to do this.
    Full write up when time permits please.
    We insist! Also...where did you stop/stay?
    Cheers!

    Meanwhile...in other news.....
    Remember this? (April) Being the cheapskate that I am, I repaired it.
    Been fine for another 1500 miles too.
    Got home today, pulled off helmet and took earplugs out.... loud whistling sound.
    Thought it was my tinutus. Repair plug failed..... just as I arrived home, tyre still inflated, by the time I'd made a coffee...it was proper flat.
    Lucky, lucky, lucky. Didn't have puncture repair kit on me again...hahahahaaaaa...
    Ordered me a spangly new Dunlop Sportie III, I'm hoping it will be OK with OE front Dunlop D214...fingers crossed...

    Happily not crowded, but even so it was at times inevitably slow paced on some of the single track roads because people don't know how to use passing places and or forget that bikes don't generally have reverse.

    No "full write up" I'm afraid but I can tell you that we used https://www.haggistours.co.uk/home to organise the ride.
    Our tour was done at a cost that would suit a cross section of budgets and so accomodation tended to be very basic (Haggis Tours usually go a bit more upmarket on digs).

    Our digs and grub arrangements were (some hostels are miles from anywhere and so you need to be prepared to self-cater):
    • Newcastle Airport Travelodge - meal in Toby Carvery;
    • Inverness Youth Hostel - buffet curry in Cinnamon Restaurant;
    • Helmsdale Hostel - meal in the Bannockburn Inn;
    • Kyle of Tongue Hostel - self-catered;
    • Ceilidh Place Bunkhouse - meal in Ceilidh Inn;
    • Broadford Youth Hostel - self-catered;
    • Ben Nevis Bunkhouse - meal in Ben Nevis Inn;
    • Carlisle Travelodge M6 southbound - Dominos pizza delivery.

    As for stops and sights, some of the highlights were (although the sights are amazing, it was really the riding I was there for):
    Struie Hill, Shin Falls, Dunrobin Castle, Whaligoe Steps, Duncansby Head, John O'Groats, Dunnet Head, Fresgoe, Smoo Cave, Drumbeg, Lochinver, Corrieshalloch Gorge, Shieldaig, Applecross Inn, Bealach na Bà, Kilt Rock, Quiraing, Glenelg Ferry, Spean Bridge Commando Memorial, Ben Nevis, Green Welly Stop Tyndrum.

    Commando memorial,I was talking to my brothers father in law last week.
    He did his training there in 1945 he had just finished and they where being mobilised to go to Japan when the war ended.
    He had a terrific course photo on his wall taken outside the big house with lots of detail in it.
    He’s still got his commando dagger which is immaculate having never been used ,though somehow he’s lost the scabbard.
    It’s another reason I want to do it so I can take some photos for him,as he points out it’s Army commando not RMC.

    Plastic rear wheel huggers

    Has anyone any experience of these - the ones that are secured with a cable tie?

    My prejudice says everything must be bolted on firmly or it doesn't even get considered but I am often described as "set in my ways" so I am looking for alternative views - does anyone think that they are any good ?

    TIA

    Close to the monument there's also a thought provoking Garden of Remembrance

    Rode 500k up through Italy in 42C will full black cordura oversuit; only way we managed it was to stop every 100k, but 4 litres of water, 1 each to drink and 1 each to pour inside our suits. The evaporation helped keep us cool. A bit.

    Having some custom parts made for my Triumph by a chap in a local engineering shop.

    Eye-wateringly expensive, but he can do magic with metal that I could only dream of doing.

    I was out too, in the heat of the afternoon. By the time I got home again I had a soaking wet back (although the mesh jacket did its job elsewhere) and my socks were more than a little manky.

    Surprisingly my head wasn't too bad, despite the fact that I was wearing an open face helmet that was completely unvented.

    You are not mistaken. A lovely place. I went from there up to Langsett - pretty much on single track roads the whole way. Not fast but plenty of hairpins and a great way to really see the countryside.
