    Suggest some all mountain bikes

Since some light fingered bstards relieved me of my bike I now have to figure out what to replace it with.
It was a 2004 Specialised Enduro. 120mm forks, 130mm rear travel, about 13.5kg.
Even though it was 14 years old it still did everything I needed a bike to do. It’s done days out with the kids, play biking down the local woods, been ridden/carried up a fair selection of mountains and then ridden down again. I don’t do as many long days out as I did, but maybe a new bike will inspire me again.

Bike tech has moved on a long way, so what to replace it with? I’m so out of date I ask the internet...
I’d like to avoid press fit bottom brackets, want decent hydraulic disks, around 130mm of travel front and back.
    Any suggestions?
The trek fuels look about right, but I think they have press fit bottom brackets, Mondraker Factor RR looks nice, but has a strange geo, so I don’t know what size to get, and there at few riding impressions on the web.
Not sure about Carbon -is it going to stand up to 10+ years of (ab)use?

Budget is in the 1000 -2500 range, can find a little more for a special something, but less than 3k is a must

Depends on what you're after really but have listed a few 27.5 full suspension bikes below that are well worth a look.

    Canyon Spectral
    Giant Trance
    Whyte T130
    Trek Fuel EX
    Commencal Meta TR

The Bird is a great shout.

I recommend a Specialized Camber or on that budget a pre owned stumpjumper FSR
    RIAC

Forget the rear suspension and get a Van Nicholas ti framed bike, just under the top of your budget. The frame will see you out, and it's well specced. My riding pal has one and the frames are very well made.

You can get an electric bike with that budget; non-electric is so old fashioned these days, time to modernise. For old fashioned bikes I like the Felt 29ers; they carry real momentum on and off road.

Realised I don't have many photos from our trips out, but I do have a couple, and a thread is worthless without pictures of course, so:

A spot of Cross Campus racing:

Riding down the Cavedale bridleway. That was hilarious day out in the rain. The way down was slippery as a well greased slippery thing - 2 of our group decided to walk(!) down.

This was a good few years ago at Cannock Chase, near the rifle butts. Apparently you can't ride there anymore.

The new bike will be a full suspension, I have a quite nice Tange CroMo Mongoose from the mid 90s for that zingy frame ride...
Still has Indy SL and lovely red V brakes.

Not heard of Bird bikes, will have a look.
The Canyon seems a good fit as well.
The Trek Fuel EX was already on the list - just a PF BB puts me off a little...

Not really looking for a ebike - another solution looking for a problem (like display backs )

This is my current steed, Nukeproof Mega AM Comp with a few upgrades. Decent on the climbs and mental going downhill, maybe a bit too much travel for what you're after (160mm each end).

The Whyte S150 is another you should take a look at.

I'm in a very similar market right now and my short list is currently (a couple of these mentioned already coincidentally):

    Canyon Spectral
    YT Jeffsy
    Commencal Meta
    Transition Scout
    (Second hand) Orange Five RS

Similar choices to the ones I had on my shortlist. I’d also add the Intense Primer to that. Since they’ve gone direct-to-consumer they’re stonking value.

The Bird is a lot of fun and really capable for 120mm travel. The guys who designed it are really good to deal with too - based down near Swinley if you’re able to get to them for a test ride.

When it came to it though I went for a 27.5 Jeffsy CF Pro Race will all the trimmings. Damn good fun it is too although the 160mm travel is overkill for most things I ride so I’m going to supplement it with a Cotic Solaris Max for the slightly tamer trails.

All suggestions have been really good choices so far, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them as long as you keep the travel relatively sensible and the frame long and slack.

I went for a Whyte T130 and would fully recommend it. it will do pretty much anything you require it to do off road, far more capable than its numbers suggest and will always be a fun, fast, sharp and lively ride. Whyte have won tons of awards with this bike and really set the benchmark for trail bikes. Threaded BB also.

I’ve an unused 2016 model Intense Tracer 275a (grey with red decals) in the study(yes study, it’s so pretty!)-bought new but injury on the hard tail and then life getting in the way/ general laziness, could go to good home, if interested PM me if want full spec etc etc

Today I went for a ride on this:

At Bird bikes. It’s the 145 Aeris. It’s brilliant. Now I just have to wait for mine to be delivered :)

    Nice!
I can't decide if I want a Bird or another Nukeproof next.
What colour have you gone for?

If I were you I'd build my own.

I did this in 2006 (hence the crappy phone pic) and ended up with an ott spec for mid range money.

    9.2kg all in.

    Nice.
I have built my last 2 bikes from scratch, Nukeproof Mega and in the process of building a Nukeproof Scout.
Both better spec for lower cost than 'off the shelf' with careful buying - took longer but adds to the fun.

Have you seen this in SC?
    https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...ght=Cannondale

I’ve got the carbon version and have found it to be a great bike, with resent shock/fork/bearing services should be as good as new.

I’d check if the last price was £ or € as the op is in Ireland.
