Get it on a strap, it's the bracelet which is weighing you down!

Mine's just arrived. Brilliant quality for the money. Wish I hadn't sold my isofranes now, would be perfect addition!

Ah but then you wouldn't be able to use the excellent matching gold buckle and keeper.

    Cool

Having talked the talk as the OP, thought I better walk the walk and mine arrived last week.

Initial thoughts are very positive: excellent finishing, nice presence on the wrist and, for a big watch, extremely comfortable - the low height and weight and short lug to lug are key. After 5 days it's running at 0 sec - perhaps there's a 9F inside https://forum.tz-uk.com/images/icons/icon6.png. I was a bit worried about the metal loop but, in practice, it's not noticeable on the wrist and solves the problem of many rubber loops in that it moves along the strap very easily.

A couple of reviewers mentioned that the crown stem is pretty loose when the crown is out. The same's true on mine and the crown action in general feels quite imprecise - I think this would be my only gripe. Being solar quartz though, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Really tempted by one of these.

Have those with the gold finish had any issues with fading/scratching etc?
The last black/gold watch I had was a Casio in the 80's which didn't fair too well.

Can you get the Pepsi without the PADI branding?

Gold finish seems very tough and hard wearing.

    Thanks.
Where's the best place to get one for the best price?
Have seen the PADI Pepsi for £299, cheapest gold I've seen is £349.

Sounds right, the gold ones are more desirable.

Same here, the only thing that lets it down. Must admit it does annoy me, but then I don’t change dates so doubt I’ll see it that often!

I picked my PADI Pepsi up for £299. There was one for sale on SC last week at £200ish which was a steal. £349 is the cheapest I've seen for the Gold (UK stock) There is one on SC for £340.

    Mine arrived earlier today.
Not as big as I was thinking it would be which is nice.
Feels really nice on my wrist and fits well.
Nice to see a short rubber strap for a change - I usually take them straight off as my wrist is thin and usually have loads of strap hanging out.
I have ordered a 22mm NATO with gold hardware though just to try, but actually really liking the rubber.
    Really impressed.

Looks good Chris, enjoy. I think they are perfect size wise. Mine has not been of my wrist since I got it a few weeks ago (need to rember where I put my PO I was wearing!!).
I do like the black and gold too and am sorely tempted.

Where did you order the Nato from Chris? Thinking green with black fittings would be good but yes I agree the rubber strap is great especially with the lovely brushing and polished bevel on the buckle and keeper. Plus the rubber strap is much more flexible than other Seiko ones I have had.

Also the lume is incredible, puts my old style Tuna to shame!

    Ordered from eBay:
    22mm black/gold NATO

I'm thinking black with PVD hardware would be quite good too.

Lume is brilliant as you'd expect from Seiko - love the semi lumed insert.

Just picked my gold and black version from John Lewis. Really like it, however there only appears to be about 1 turn of thread on the screw down crown - feels fine, very smooth but just checking if there’s a is normal?! - hope so as the second hand lines up with the markers etc

Just tried mine and get about 2 1/4 turns.
As others though with the crown unscrewed/out it does feel wobbly.

Not worried about the wobble - looks like it’s going back then - must have been cross threaded prior to my purchase I imagine

Any thoughts on the amount of turns on the crown? Not sure if mine’s faulty - see my earlier comment!

Don't think I get much more than 1 1/2 turns. Once it's screwed in though it feels pretty secure so I don't feel the need to worry.

I haven't touched the crown since setting it so it doesn't bother me either.

  25. #75
Hmm. Just compared to my other quartz divers - a citizen and a seiko kinetic - and they both have the same 1.5 turns. I think it’s the wobbly nature of the crown. I’ll set it and forget it!

Nah. Going back - sadly just too small. It’s on the last hole in the strap and looks a bit silly (I do have weirdly large wrists) - might have made it a present for my son but he says he prefers his Argos Casio!

Never done the inches thing, but I wear most watches with all the links in - in fact I went to a gtg and couldn’t get anyone’s bracelet watch over my hand to try on. Odd as I’m no giant

Black & gold NATO arrived today.
Quality isn't too bad - thinner than what I'm used to and the hardware is slightly more ZULU than NATO.
Like the fact the watch has drilled lugs.
Popped the silicone strap off, put the bars back in and away we go.....

Changed the silicone for a Bonetto rubber and swapped the hardware over. Perfect

Ordered the black & gold yesterday. As soon as I saw it in pictures I was thinking this will be perfect on flat vent with hardware swapped in. Your pictures confirmed that 110%

Black/PVD NATO arrived this morning from watchstrapsuk.
Better quality (thicker) than the black/gold eBay one.
    Quite like the semi-stealth look.

So... I got the SS version on bracelet. It is less "flashy" than golden version. (too bad that golden does not have golden hands instead of silver)
For now on rubber, bracelet is waiting for colder weather.
Overall I am very pleased with the watch. With plastic shroud feels like G-Shock to some degree which is ok for me. But it is understandable that some people have issue with this plastic shroud. Yobokies stainless steel PVD shroud can be ordered for 105$ if someone really hates plastic shroud and loves the watch look.
I plan to use it as beater, without any worries about damaging the watch. Nice alternative to the much more expensive standard Tunas.

You know what, I actually hadn't noticed the minute and hour hands were silver - the second hand is gold though.

Thanks for the heads-up on Harold doing the shroud - might get one at some point.

Talking of silver hands... can anyone tell me what the difference is between this current golden solar tuna, and the SBDN028... apart from the latter having golden hands? Is one of these more sought after/limited?
reason I ask is that I’ve just tried on an SBDN028 at a dealer in Thailand a few hours ago, but I thought the price was a bit ‘toppy’ at just over £400 after discount (15%).
    Bought a Steel g-shock instead.

    Main difference is only design.
To me new Tuna is much better looking than 028.

  40. #90
Size is the main difference surely? The original Tuna is a chunky beast, this is somewhat more dainty/user friendly - I’m really gutted it wore so small on me but a 44mm Panerai looks ‘normal’ on my wrists

I really like the SS variant too... was going to ride with the black/gold for a while and try on some different NATOs before deciding if it's just a holiday fling or a long term relationship.

Need to go check out Harold's shroud (could take a while to find on his bucket) and if that's as good as I can visualise then the SS with SS shroud could be a great weekend fling on and forget watch. Thanks for sharing the info...

Would be interested to see photos of the black DLC shroud although I don't have a problem with the hard coated plastic, it has a nice texture. Reckon I'd damage the hex screws getting them off anyway!

That looks really nice with the steel shroud.
It was the blue shroud that put me off the PADI version. Had I known about the replacement shroud I may have got one.
It really makes the bezel pop.
