Too hot to wear a watch?

I've stopped wearing one for some of the time; it's just too hot. Bracelet, strap, still feels uncomfortable in the heat of the day.
Never happened to me before. I noticed my partner has stopped wearing one, so it's not just me.

I know what you mean. I think an Oyster bracelet is fine though. Leather is definitely off the cards in this weather.

It sounds like Trimalchio, but I must admit I have taken to wearing an RAF pull through very loose

    Rubber and perlon both fine

No problems here, the flexibility of the bracelet and weight of the watch head work a treat

A dirty strap or bracelet will feel yucky in hot weather.

Wipe a leather strap with a damp towel (apres shower is a great opportunity) and let it air dry overnight to keep a strap in good nick. Bracelets, I soak in tepid water regularly (after swimming, certainly after salt water immersion) and towel dry, to remove any dirt, skin oils, dander, etc. More thorough cleaning once or twice a year.

Nylon straps are handy in that you can wash them from time to time to keep them clean.

For me it’s nylon or perlon, I can get away with the cousins rubber for a while but I’m finding bracelets and gshocks uncomfortable

In hot weather then everytime I wash my hands I make sure running water gets to the back of the case and also all around the clasp. I wear my bracelets a teeny bit on the loose side meaning I can slightly lift the watch case up slightly to allow cold water to wash between the contact area of the case, clasp, bracelet and my skin. This definitely helps!

p.s. I only wear divers so can't talk for non-waterproof watches.

If I'm at work where it's air conditioned then I wear a watch. If I'm not at work then I haven't unless I've gone out in the evening somewhere.

G10 on NATO is about my only choice at the moment with this hot weather, anything else and I end up changing back to the old trusty CWC.

I feel naked if not wearing a watch.
Never is too hot to wear a t-shirt and shorts or a watch. That’s why there is one for every occasion.

    Nice Watch.

It's been a few weeks of NATO wearing for me, with the exception of wearing my Speedy on Leather with it cooling down the past few days.

    Never.

Whatever the temperature I’ll find a way.

I have a drawer full of nato, leather, rubber and bracelet options.

nato is the choice at the moment.

Defiantly too hot for bracelet but I have no issues with a rubber strap in these conditions.

Definitely avoiding leather at the moment. NATO going through the wash every weekend. Haven't stopped wearing a watch though.

  27. #27
No not too hot. No problem wearing watches with bracelets. Just stick your wrist and watch under the cold water tap to cool off, when it gets too hot.

The weather man on the BBC said 5 days over 30c this week is the south. Maybe to hot for big and heavy watches but great for G-Shock.

Only if I'm going in the sauna do I take off my watch other than that, it's on my wrist.

I find a leather strap horrible in this weather when it gets humid or sweaty, ordered a Eulit perlon strap the other day as I’m working in Singapore for a week soon and it’s 80-90% humidity there.
Will keep it on for the rest of the summer.

Mid-thirties for the past fortnight in Florida, and very humid. Outdoors generally it’s been a Speedmaster on Velcro. In the water the TakeTime Prospex on a Zuludiver.

40 plus in Adelaide during summer. only avoid leather as the sweat can make the straps smell after awhile!

It's all relative of course; but we're getting what may be the hottest summer ever recorded in the UK. I've noticed that my partner, who comes from the south of France, has stopped wearing necklaces and most other jewellery.
I'l wear a watch today, because I genuinely need one, but it's not so comfortable, even with a well-adjusted, very clean, bracelet. It's probably the humidity which causes problems.
Clearly a lot of people don't have a problem, but some do.

Lucky you haven’t got a Royal wedding to go to today then as imagine the scandal if you didn’t wear a dress watch! Anarchy at best, mutiny at worse.

I agree in hot and especially humid conditions leather can get a bit nasty but even bracelet is fine as long as you have good micro adjust capability.

I agree with the OP, it can get too hot to wear a watch. It’s no big deal without one. For this reason I don’t wear one on holiday either. Didn’t even take a watch on my recent holiday to Tenerife, now there’s a scary thought for a lot of you

    G shock for me

I take it off and give it a good rinse in cold water a number of times throughout the day - feels nice when you put it back on

Most of the time I don't really notice I have it on though - the heat seems to make the soft rubber strap even softer (GW5000)

If I don’t adjust my bracelet to be rather loose it can be uncomfortable in hot weather. But echoing some comments above, I’ve never been too hot to wear a watch.

I've been wearing mine on a cousins rubber and apart from when I did some gardening cutting up some logs and getting very hot all have been ok.

Too hot to wear a watch?

Hirsch Performance or Nato is the answer for me.

Natos are the answer. A nice clean one, twice a day if need be . . .

The only time my watch comes off is in the bath, or to change it for another.

I only wear bracelets and they are sized for hot weather so they are a bit loose in winter.

Leather, rubber and cheap nylon straps are for peasants.
