    USA SIM

Last big family holiday this year, so pushing the boat out and going to NYC and Barbados in a couple of weeks.

Took ‘3’ SIM cards last year to Florida, which were a bit hit and miss with signal and coverage.

I’m thinking of getting local PAYG SIMS in the US, not so much bothered about being connected in Barbados.

Can anyone recommend a network/brand to go for with a mix of data and talk? If there is one that will cover both territories then great, but I suspect that is unlikely.

    Thanks.

It doesn't matter what UK sim you take, all sims in all countries worldwide just roam to the strongest network at the local location.

For ease I just use my own contract sim, £5 a day I think, might be £7.50 can't remember, which compared to the other costs on holiday isn't that much. A pint of beer at dinner at current terrible exchange rates.

Good point, I’m with Vodafone, which is £6/day. 5 phones it mounts up though!

Just looking for a cheaper option if there is one.

Same with '3' if you’re on an advanced plan.

You need to be on a max plan - on other plans it's pretty expensive (at least it was last time I checked).

Think this just reiterates what others have said but there might be further useful details:

With so many phones maybe get a portable wi-fi router with a data sim you can all use?

Does everyone even need data, presumably hotels have wi-fi and maybe free hot-spots when out and about.

Spent two weeks in Miami and NYC last month using 3 PAYG with 12gb data for 20 odd quid. Worked perfect
