They seem to be really solid at the moment and creeping up. This is especially true for the early flat four models. I don't think they are tremendously rare so they may dip again when all this rolexmania dies down (whenever that might be). That said they have been established as a desirable model so I would definitely expect them to always hold higher than the LN equivalent.

They seem to be a hard watch to price recently.
I think they will continue to climb for a good while yet

Have you been offered many LVs in the past 6 months or are people hanging onto them?

Haha, I saw that one too. I remember when Ocean round the corner had one in the window for £7k and I thought they were taking the piss. That was only 18 months ago!

Strangely enough the private sale on chrono24 for a flat 4 with scratched bezel hasn't sold yet @ 20k😂
I did notice a press pack get snapped up on fleabay for £950 a few weeks ago though.

I thought prices had stabilised over the past few months. The 16610LV has become a collector piece. Flat or later. So I believe it will always hold firm.

I think they have flattened out too based upon an occasional look on eBay.

I don’t think they are close to flattening out based on the last 12-18 months.

    How much?!

All it is, is a maxi dialed Sub-Date with a green aluminium bezel. Actually nothing that special really.

    Madness.

I know crazy isn’t it - only a huge amount of work more than writing Submariner in Red rather than White, but seems to command a bit of a premium.

The prices are high, because some modern currently available models are selling for very high prices.

It doesn’t look like that is going to reverse any time soon.

Based on the last 18 months, no, but over the last 3, I think they have. Happy to admit that my source is limited and I don't spend a lot of time observing.

I had two 16610LVs, one from brand new. Sold them both within a month of ownership for around £3k! each as couldn't get on with the look compared to the regular sub.
    Still have a hulk though.

I've been on the lookout for one for a few months now and my perception in that time is that (in general) prices have for the moment at least levelled off. Flat fours may be a different matter.

Stay tuned guys - my 2017 Hulk will appear in the For Sale section next week all going to plan. It’s a stunning watch but I’ve decided that the time is right to sell up and try something new.

I requested an offer to buy from Watch Finder and they came back to me today via e-mail offering between £7500-£7700. Even if the watch is as described, I wonder if they end up offering even less upon inspection.

Little low Id say £8k was the start point for a Hulk with decent warranty in the trade in the current market

Its gone a little off and includes the Hulk too, both great news watches although I think the original LV will maintain its current range for a while and the Hulk should simmer in the very low teens till it no longer appears in the catalogue then it’ll jump 30-50% if they remove it making a nice one mid to high teens. Pure speculation but Id pout my reputation on it

You think Rolex could/would discontinue the hulk? Thats certainly food for thought. Toying of the idea of letting mine go whilst prices are high. Sold my “y” series LV for £5750 4/5 years ago and still smarting...maybe I should keep hold of the hulk..

In what condition? Used, BNIB, stickered, papers in custody? I’m genuinely interested in what some of the variables mean to the value of a watch to trade.

There’s roughly 10-12% between a sealed one and a used one and all inbetween.

Thanks, I picked one up last year which remains unworn. It was just before holding on to paperwork became common place. The lady in the shop insisted that the stickers be removed but seemed to forget when we started to chat about watches.

I’ve seen a 2006 z series 16610 LV at a local dealer. No box or papers and a scuffed bezel. The bracelet doesn’t look original to the watch I.e. it looks newer. They’re asking £7k which seems rather to good to be true. Any thoughts from the experts?

If it to good to be true it often is. I wouldn’t touch it. There are a lot of cut and shut LV’s out there.

I wouldnt call that cheap, 6.5k would be a good buy 7.5k would probably buy you a better watch.

Thanks for the replies. My main concern is that it was never an LV to begin with and has had a maxi dial and green bezel fitted to a standard sub. The bracelet I could live with. I understand there isn’t a way to tell without papers or having it serviced.

I don't know the OF forum, but the seller may be a decade or two ahead of themselves on the price.

That sounds a bit ambitious. I like them a lot but I think this hysteria will come to an end and the prices will level off or drop for a while. I remember hearing there was one LV for every five LNs. If that's true then they're uncommon but not rare.

It is ambitious but it’ll be a reality soon enough. Re the ratio of LV to LN I’d say it was considerably lower than 1 in 5. Maybe 1 in 50!
