    New Rolex discount.....

One of my friends has decided they want to buy their first Rolex.

He wants a stainless Datejust. Is a discount achievable on one of these?

I know there would be no chance on a sports model but I understand that there isn’t the same demand for a non sports.

I have a dealer I would normally use but I’ve fallen out with them.

Yup you should be able to get a discount on the DJ.

My dealer in the UK gave me a discount pretty much without me asking (a month ago) It felt like I could have asked for more but was happy with the price overall.

Some ADs may not be so forthcoming with discounts but I would suggest that you politely ask.

I think circa 15% should be achievable. I suppose it all depends on previous business with the AD.

I think you will achieve 5 to 7% if the watch u want is in stock, if it's an order piece then I doubt you will get a discount.

He wants a black faced DJ41 on a jubilee so I would imagine that wouldn't be hard to find in stock.

Anyone with any hookups let me know

I have a friendly AD in the South East I could make an intro to or see if they’d discount. PM me if interested.

Some versions of the DJ41 are quite hard to get , they sell as soon as they arrive. Others may stick around, but I doubt there's much wriggle room. These days you can struggle to get 10% even on gold models. Rolex isn't interested in discounting. But, you can try.....

I would be surprised if one will get a discount on a Datejust 41 stainless steel- they are very popular especially with sports models not being available.

I asked for a free Rolex service with a recent Yachtmaster purchase.
The AD was happy to include this as can absorb this amount without heavily discounting the watch itself.

This amounts to 5-10% of the deal value, and is useful if you plan to keep the piece long term.

Would any AD give 15% on a steel DJ41? That seems a huge discount to me.

This, got 10% off my Pelagos and a service which amounted to approximately 20% discount in total.

Isn't that a bit optimistic as even greys don't offer 15% off the popular DJ IIs? Especially since it's a first time buyer.

I’ve never managed to get a discount off a SS Rolex in the UK.

I'm due to collect an OP36 next week from a Rolex store....
I'm guessing chances of a discount are pretty low, or should I be pushing for a service ot 10% or something?

They will probably tell you to come back after the 4th of January when prices go up another 6%

I was offered 5% off a DJ earlier this year but I have a long standing relationship with the AD.

Can a Rolex AD sell above RRP? Is it up to them or is Rolex price as per their website the max they can ask for? I don’t refer to gray of course.

If you're "due to collect" then it sounds like you're past negotiations to be honest. You wouldn't get a discount on an OP these days anyway though, so no worries.

    No they can’t.

That said I’ve heard people say on other forums that some AD’s do in the Far East.

Huh. I’ve just paid over £11k for both of two Batgirls bought from AD.....but they were secondhand.

I refer to new watches. Second hand they can charge what they wish I guess. I would have thought RRP for new watches - I was quoted (slightly) more at the (only) AD in Cyprus. Anyone have an email for Rolex? Impossible to find any details online.

Seriously doubt it. You'd have trouble locating a DJ41 at RRP let alone get a discount.

I think he has as much chance of getting a discount as he has of shoving a lump of butter up a porcupines bottom with a red hot needle.

My most recent purchase was a DJ36 which had to be ordered in. Took about a month to arrive. Didn't consider asking. It’s my first purchase with this AD after all.

You will get the carrier bag for free thereby 'bagging' yourself a 5p discount. Thus, the very fortunate could tell people they obtained a discount on a Daytona

It’s the case that if you don’t take it at RRP, there are plenty of folks who will. There is no reason to give a discount.

I’ve been quite lucky to secure this; called an AD on Wednesday and they have one in stock that is available that I can pick up when shops open at the end of lockdown

Maybe I will be lucky enough to score a discount too... probably not but it’s always worth asking I suppose

Get this... a local AD told me in an email recently that they would only make an offer for my HULK ‘significantly’ below the original RRP, and that rrp would be set by the date of the watch.

I was going to ask if they would then retail it at the original RRP but of course I didn’t bother as I knew the answer.

Surely the butter would slide down the red hot needle? Thus not being able to shove up said bum.

Which dial colour is it? If it’s one of the new colourful ones I’d say there’s no chance of discount.

OP said “called an AD on Wednesday and they have one in stock that is available” so I’d be amazed if it was the new model.

Only way you're getting a discount on any Rolex is to pay on a cashback credit card. Don't embarrass yourself by asking, it won't be worth it. Just buy and enjoy.

You're replying to a comment from two and a half years ago, the market has changed and the conversation won't end well for you. I wouldn't.

Good spot...I hadn’t seen the dates on the posts in this thread. No idea why someone just resurrected a 2 year old thread like that....pretty unhelpful.

I very politely asked and they very politely declined but did give me a small box of chocolate as a consolation and an additional 5 year warranty on top of the 5 provided by Rolex
