SOTC-July 2018 update (Pic Heavy)

Off work for another week so I decided to take some fresh pictures of my current collection using my Huawei P20 pro.

I have had another change around since my last SOTC thread in February 2018.

As I said previously, I never thought I would go above 4 watches but that figure has been exceeded for some time.

    • Divers
    • Chrono
    • Pilot
    • Ana-Digi
    • Dress-ish

    In no particular order ......

    Omega Seamaster 60th Anniversary

I picked this one up last week on a short vacation in York. It was sitting in an AD window and after mulling it over for a couple of days I nabbed it.

Really pleased with it. I previously owned a MC300 but at 41mm with straight lugs it wore too big for me.The size at 39mm is perfect for my 6.75" wrist. The bracelet quality is amazing and I love the vintage feel to it. I dont do vintage watches so modern reinterpretations are my limit.

    Seiko SLA017

I am totally blown away by this one. It is probably my joint favourite watch with my first ever PO which I bought in 2010. I love the style, size and quality of the watch. head. The stock bracelet is quite poor but I wear it on rubber straps and today I picked up an Uncle Seiko 19mm tropic strap which perfectly complements its vintage vibe.

    Grand Seiko Snowflake

This is my third GS and I always wanted to acquire a snowflake. Great build quality and the detail on the dial is stunning.

    Omega 2254.50 (Modded)

I wanted to try one of these for a while. Lovely slim case and wears very comfortably. I upgraded the flat painted dial to an applied dial from the 2230.50 version. This one is on the chopping block but each time I list it I regret it and know that I will not track one of these down again. So I need to think carefully before letting it go.

    Breitling Aerospace Advantage

IMO the best version of a classic watch. I had the EVO previously but this one is almost perfect.

Planet Ocean 2500 (Modded with a 8500 handset)

I tend to swap my POs between mesh and bracelet. Although, it does spend more time on mesh than the bracelet. I have a few rubber straps as well which change the look considerably. Probably my favourite all time watch !

    Speedmaster 3573.50 (Sapphire Sandwich)

Unlike the majority of people I much prefer the sapphire version to the hesalite (had a 3572.50 and 3570.50 previously). Hoping to hold onto this one for my boy as it is a birthyear 2008 model.

    Railmaster

The 39.2mm version of this watch is the perfect size and IMO a future classic. I tend to wear this one to work and its simplicity is perfect. I have had three examples of Explorer 1's and always tend to prefer the Railmaster.

    Bremont Airco

I admit I am a Bremont fan but realised that the 43mm versions wear too big. This one is 40mm and I have acquired the perfect strap for it. Again, I am a big fan of pilot watches and miss my old IWC mark XVII with its fantastic bracelet.

    Thanks for looking !

Thanks for sharing, though armed with that zoom it would be nice to see some of the display backs!

How thick is the PO compared to the 2254?

Very nice, Michael. I like all of those, but in particular I like the GS Snowflake and the Planet Ocean.

The GS is indeed lovely. Particularly like the blue of the second hand 👍🏻.

I like the fact that you’re happy to modify them to get exactly what you like, the end results look great.

Thanks guys. I just need to enjoy them rather than thinking about the next one...

I have slowly moved back to more moderate sized watches.

I hope we start seeing more < 40mm watches over the next few years

Me too but I still like to pretend I can pull off the monsters because I like complex sporty watches that need dial acreage!

Forgot to say, which is terrible of me, that is a lovely set of watches and brilliant shots of them. Are you finding the P20 to give you better photos than the Pixel 2XL you had?

Loved the Pixel 2XL but the P20 pro is the best phone I ever had.

Nice SOTC. The Snowflake is just stunning and I’d love to own one myself someday.

Surprised at how much I like that Railmaster though... Not something I’d normally be attracted too tbh

I have or had the iPhone, the 3, 3s, 4, 4s the 5 & 6plus, the 6 is playing up, as is the MacBook Pro so I am in the very near future getting a Huawei P20pro Twilight and sod apple.

Great set of watches, good photos too.

EnJoY the phone and your lovely collection of watches
