    Phone advice

    Sorry to be so boring.

I've got an s7, which i love. By far the best phone I've ever had.

Battery life is on its way down though.

Thinking of upgrading later in the year.

Most important to me is a good camera.

Thinking of looking at s8 or maybe s9 (though apparently this is not so good?)

Or going to suck on the tit of the apple devil. Maybe iphone something?

    Thoughts recommendations please

    Many thanks

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

I have the Note 8 and it is fantastic and has a great camera and you can't beat Samsung displays.

I wouldn't get an iphone I just find them a bit dull compared to Android phones why not have a look at that Oneplus 6 Bob is selling on sc they are superb phones for the money.

I work in security and despite being a massive Linux fan for decades, I would not touch an android phone with a bargepole. They are getting better, but nowhere near where I'd link my bank account to one.

Had an S7, and an S8 and bought an S9 but haven't started using it yet.

Stick with Samsung, BN - S8 is superb and much better than my other half's iPhone.

I have an S7 Edge and love it. I ignored the S8 and S9 but will be tempted by the S10, out next spring. It's reviewing very well in the 'leak' sites.

Do you think banking apps are compromised in some way on Android?

All mobile phones should be treated as though they are compromised. It doesn’t cost much to purchase spyware that cannot be easily detected, and there are numerous ways to get it onto the device that don’t even need direct access.

One of the more obvious and easily available examples, this app can remotely and covertly turn on microphone and camera, access all photographs and videos and record all voice calls, SMS messages, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. Popular with suspicious spouses:

A couple are consistently reliable, basing their comments on data nicked from Samsung themselves and their subcontractors.

A good reason to get an iPhone. Doesn't work on them.

Seriously, all other phones are just 'other phones'!

That particular example doesn’t, but iPhones are certainly not immune.

I used to love android phones but all the settings I never used, the manufacturers deciding when to offer you software updates, and the fact that after 18 months they seemed to slow terribly put me right off (plus I had quality SD cards go pop and lose data etc) - if you’re not a serial phone swapper for the sake of it, I’d buy a decent iPhone with lots of internal storage and keep it for 3 years. In my experience they just work well as the settings seem more logical to me. And at 3 years old still worth selling as they seem to hold value. It’s no contest imho but I’m no expert!!

This, and you can get decent Pay monthly deals at the moment. Had one for a few weeks and the picture quality is up there with the best in class. (not just my word , most of the reviews say the same)

Apple iphones seem to make a habit of lacking the features i want.

Wireless charging although i believe they do have that now
    micros SD card
Hardware home buttons or even a keyboard like on my android blackberry priv.
    No 3.5mm headphone socket.
Cant remove the battery easily yourself.

Sadly android phones are losing removable batterues and wireless charging is scant.

Stuck with my 3 year old BB priv until something meets most of those features.

Just my opinion but it seems that my friends who own Android phones must also carry around a large portable charger wherever they go and are constantly complaining about battery life and the fact that they haven’t received the latest Android update.

I tried using a Samsung phone for my work emails but the constant lagginess and crashing put me off.

As you have guessed I’m an iPhone user and won’t be switching anytime soon even with the latest Android handsets which are meant to be better.

I fully realise that Apple are fleecing people with their prices but the handsets and user interface suit me fine. I don’t want a phone with a million setting I can customise. I just wants something that works right out of the box and has a decent battery life.

If they release an iPhone X Plus in September then that’s the one I’ll be going for

I reiterate just my very humble opinion on all of the above. There are many, many happy Android users. I’m just not one of them.

Well I've posted recently about my new Moto G6 Plus and am so impressed with it especially the camera quality. Battery with average use can go 2 days, it's super fast, bags of storage. Pictures are eye poppingly sharp and well coloured. For the money, unbeatable. 😀

Honestly, iPhone was always the best choice especially on its camera quality. I'm also trying the quality of other brands such as Huawei or Xiaomi, but I'll still choose iPhone.

Same. Instead it's a first post on a zombie thread, on a watch forum, about an iPhone.
