    Motorbikes and watches registry

I’ve noticed a fair few fellow motorcyclists on the forum and thought it’d be great to make ourselves known.

Let’s introduce ourselves and feel free to share bike/watch photos!

    Good idea!

I'm new to road biking having got my license in October; i am currently riding a VFR750 but I have a real penchant for a KTM SuperDuke GT! Counting down the hours until i leave work and head off on a 2.5hr road trip this afternoon!

    Watch collection
    Rolex sub 16610
    Rolex GMT Master 16700
    Rolex exp 2 polar 216570
Zenith El Primero 1969 tricolour 42mm

Tag + oris and numerous beaters!!

    Cheers

Welcome to the brotherhood! I love the SuperDuke GT but I also love a V4 and the Honda will last almost as long as your Rolexes!

Have a fun and safe ride!

    Bike
    Suzuki Hayabusa

    Watches
    1971 Rolex 1603
    1952 Rolex 6084
    1973 Tissot Seastar
    1950's Pioneer hand wound
    2015 Seiko Blumo
    2017 Seiko MM300

I haven't had the Hyabusa long so still getting used to the awesome motor (ie taking it very carefully) and tend to wear my divers to the exclusion of the other pieces.

I'd love another bike even if it meant having fewer watches but I am fairly certain it would be noticed....

Mate of mine had KH250 triple back in ‘77, we came back from Burnley (2 up) over the tops to the Lakes and it hammered it down non stop. The thing ran on 2 pots all the way home and still pulled like a train between the 2 of us there was some weight sat on those tyres 😂

That’s the trouble with old bikes from our youth, it’s difficult (impossible) to stop at one!

I’ve 3 GPz750s in the garage along with a Zephyr 750 and a ZR7 to use as parts for a special build!

I may be interested in the RD200 although if it were a 250 or 400 it’d be more interesting

    Bikes:

Triumph Street Triple bought new when my son was just a few weeks old. He was 11 yesterday. Where did that time go?!

1985 Yamaha RD350 ypvs project. 95% finished. The last 5% is proving hard!

    Watches:

Yes quite a few. My keep it to 5 goal rarely lasts long.

Cbr600f track bike that I really need to sell as I don't have time to use it.

Few watches that I ought to sell too as they're not getting worn, I'm seeing a pattern...

    Don’t do it!

I sold my track bike twelve years ago before we moved to Spain.
    I still wish I hadn’t.

Bikes: yes, down to just one at the moment (first time in 20+ years) but that'll change in a while.

    Watches: yes, quite a few.

My KH is absolutely original including the famous metal plug caps. Someone once told me the bike looks brilliant but if I venture out in the rain the electrical lightning effect will be impressive, more so as the engine will be subdued as it drops from 3 to 2 to.......

Massively cut down my watch collection lately as I wear a Fitbit almost exclusively but still have these.

The bike isn't used enough and the watch isn't worn enough.
Can't bring myself to get rid of either

    Jetski is my favourite.

For the past 6 years, me and three friends have done an annual European motorcycle trip. We normally go to the Italian mountains/lakes/French riviera and meet up with our wives who fly out for a few days where we rest up and stay somewhere a bit nice. They fly home, we ride home. Last year the wives went somewhere on their own so we did a solid weeks riding - morning to evening and got as far as Pamplona before turning round and coming back. Saw sod all and I was wrecked after 2700 miles in the saddle. I sold my FJR1300 last July. This year the three of them are riding to Corsica. They plan to do 700 miles on the first day (Saturday), catching the Corsica ferry at midnight on Sunday for an overnight sailing (two of them are not good on boats!) and arriving in Corsica at 8.00 on Monday morning.

I’m flying out to Corsica on the Sunday evening and after a good nights sleep, I’m being picked up from my hotel by the hire shop and collecting a 750cc hire bike on Monday morning. I’ll be meeting up with them at a hotel we have booked as our base. After spending three days touring the island, I’m leaving the bike at the airport early Thursday morning and I’ll be home by lunchtime. They have to wait until Thursday evening to get an overnight ferry back to the mainland and then suffer a thousand mile slog to get home. My scheduled flights and bike hire are costing a lot less than they are paying for a return Eurotunnel trip, fuel, tolls, a stopover each way and the Corsica ferry. They also have to spend 4 days getting to Corsica and back. Looks like I’m the guinea pig this year and if it works out, I reckon we'll all be doing a fly-ride next year.

    photo sharing

Bikes: Just a lowly commuter scooter these days.

Watches: Tag Aquaracer, Speedmaster ‘57 Co-Axial, G-Shock beater.

It’s getting on for twenty years since a bunch of us last did our annual pilgrimage to the Bol d’Or but we all enjoyed the riding more than the race. So much so that we stopped actually going to the race and only stopped long enough for the photo at the gate.

Obviously, I’m twenty years older now so I’d probably find it a bit of a slog too these days.

    Fly ride
Did this in 2016 , booked a 7 day package tour to Torremolinas , £220 from memeory , hardly used the hotel. Then hired a BMW GS from BMW motorhire near Malaga. Rode all around the Andalutian area, road to Ronda the Sierra national park. Stunning quiet roads , then handed the bike back , couple of days on the beach and home.

No back breaking ride through Uk, France , Spain, no squared off rear tyre, just great riding at less than £100 per day hire costs

    Motorbikes and watches registry

I used to do the trip from Manchester, there’s not much Uk left where I am now. I always enjoyed France though but generally kept off the autoroute.
You can’t beat Spain though although most of my riding was off road when I lived there!
