It's a scam, yes.
They have hacked a site and got your email address and password from that site, and are now trying to trick you.
Has anyone else had an email along the lines of I am aware your password is xxxxxxxx and stating malware has been placed on my machine an threatening to send pictures of me watching porn to all my contacts if I don't stump up.
Now ordinarily I wouldn't bother as I haven't watched porn. However I have a slight concern that whilst my password given is not totally correct it is partially correct. I use it mainly for forums and sites requiring log in without too much other info. An Avast scan has found nothing and I'm guessing one of the forums I use has been hacked ?
Any advice appreciated.... currently the email is sitting in my deleted items

Change all your password, starting with the important ones (PayPal, email). Make sure you use unique passwords from now and 2-step verification for the important sites.
Anything else is plain stupid.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
i've had a few of those as well over the past week or so. Not with a partial password but with a username.
I've just ignored/deleted them.
I got one as well, not good, bastards, knew it was BS as I don't own a web cam that they claimed to have a clip of me doing... Well I'll let you fill in the blanks...
There are some data breaches where password and username dumps have been made available online. Just in case you’re wondering where they got the info from, the chances are your machine hasn’t been compromised in any way.
If you enter your email address on the site below, you’ll get a pretty good idea of how they obtained a partial password, based on any data breaches you may have been caught up in:

How would they possibly have images of you doing anything on your computer?
How much porn have you/do you watch on your computer ? Get out more and stop shaking hands with the ferret.
The email sounds like a load of bollox, I wouldn't worry about it, it's a trying scam.
It’s easy, I hacked the op’s web cam earlier...
Worth reading this which explains exactly what is going on.

I actually found one of these emails in my hotmail junk folder yesterday.
Just delete it, it is just some third world scum trying their chances.
I would love to meet one of these characters and drive a large screwdriver in their ear, given the number of vulnerable people they must worry / con.

Greetings.
Wish you actually will not mind my english language grammar, considering that i'm from Indonesia. I contaminated your system with a virus and now have all of your private information out of your os.
It previously was mounted on a mature webpage and then you have picked the online video, clicked on it, my program quickly gain access to your system.
And then, your web-camera started to record you playing with your stuff, furthermore i captured a footage that you've viewed.
Immediately after some time it also pulled out your device contact information. If you ever need me to wipe off your all that i have got - transfer me 860 eu in btc it is a crypto. It is my wallet address : 1MSua2fQ9KBEai4BQUYnDWVnSVELMQmsur
At this moment you have 27 hr s. to make up your mind Immediately after i will get the transfer i'll get rid of this video and every little thing entirely. Or else, you should remember this footage will be forwarded to your contacts.'
Any of you young chaps able to corrupt that digital wallet ?
It is of course complete nonsense and you should ignore.
However if you pay up . They would just ask for more.
Also having a tug to some porno is probably the number one global pastime so you are hardly public enemy number one as a result.
And if said muppet posted pictures of you sparking your boaby they would massively incriminate themselves and leave all sorts of fingerprints local law enforcement would love to chase.
If you were ever unfortunate enough to be a victim of this most of you contacts would rally to your cause and the ones that didn't well...now you and everyone else knows what scum they are.
you are totally safe chillax ...go ...shuffle the knuckles
Had a similar email the other day, stating a password and my name. Researched things and saw it was a complete scam as has been said. Was a wake up call to change passwords though!
