I’m no expert in modern Heuers but find the latest Autavia reinterpretation an interesting offer due to the classic design and great movement.
However the stupid marks (at 2,5 min) on the minute totalizator putting me always off.
This positioning the watch not as an instrument but a fashion object.
However I found one for sale with the correct subdial.
But then no information on this.
Can someone please explain me?
Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks

Only the first Autavia's 02 have the 2 1/2 minutes indexes. The newer ones have a regular 1 minute index. Tag Heuer will replace the first dials for the newer ones free of charge. This is from the German Uhrforum.

Just joking really :)
Although seriously, seeing not much attraction in a fucked up dial but then what do I know....

To be honest, I cannot see the re edition Autavia ever becoming desirable in the long term. Heuer had the opportunity to re release one of the great Heuer models in its purest form but instead bloated out the case size and unbalanced the proportion.
A 39-40 mm case size, low profile Autavia should have been the initial release and once everyone had fallen in love with the Heuer name again, brought out the dream piece, Autavia Pepsi gmt. That really is one of the holy grails of Watch design.
Thanks for that. This and a thread on WUS gave me the answer.
Very interesting info. I will have a look on that, thanks.

Or, quite simply, if TAG wanted to release a 42mm automatic watch with date at six why not do a faithful recreation of the 1163 Siffert and Orange Boy? They didn't have to use the third sub dial. If they knew that's what size the case would be and the auto movement why did they ask everyone to vote for the earlier manual watch they wanted?
