Good choice - for me it would likely be a Submariner, probably reference 1680.

Are you from Dutchland? I lived there for a few years with my job. Nice country, a lot cleaner than the UK, but a strange habit of cutting down trees just as they become nice and big.
No I'm not, Dutch is to do with my surname.

I assume Dick isn't your first name, either? Just wondering what it's got to do with...?

Anyway, for me it's got to be a relatively under the radar brand for those shady parts of town, waterproof & resilient, smart enough for a suit, chilled enough for the beach, practical enough for travelling...

my MM300 is the watch I keep coming back to - comfortable and highly legible 24/7. Much as I like Rolex divers, the lume is not as long lasting as Seiko's.

Total utter rubbish.........do you actually believe what you’ve posted?

Do you have any technical basis for posting crap like this?......if so please share! How many watches have you taken apart?.......do you understand how watches seal (and sometimes don’t)?

In my experience, if a watch is in good condition the water resistence exceeds the stated figure, that’s based on actually testing watches, not conjecture!

Unless you insist on swimming in a watch, water resistence is unlikely to be a problem and shouldn’t be a criteria for for choice.

Good question. I’d have to be able to take it diving, and would need something that ticked the following boxes:

    • Automatic
    • 20atm WR
    • 120 click unidirectional bezel
    • No date
    • Uncluttered and easy to read
    • Sapphire crystal
    • Not too expensive

…which reinforces my suspicion that I need to start saving my pennies for one of these:

Not quite. 30m does not mean 30m. It means splash proof. 200m does not mean you can dive that far because it does not take into account the divers own movement. Starting a post with 'total utter rubbish' is a little harsh.

Without specialist equipment you can’t dive to 200m anyway, but the dynamic pressure argument is a furphy which has no merit, unless you plan to strap your watch to a propellor. You can’t move your arm fast enough for movement to impact on WR to a significant level.

Oh, so is a watch with a 30m water resistance able to go to that depth diving,??

That ain’t right is it, my little Sinn is classed as waterproof not water resistant and will go to 5000m+, was hoping to give it a bash this weekend in the Mariana Trench, even packed my flippers, goggles and speedos..

Appartently so, if it's a Casio (A158W-1) or a Seiko 5 (SNK805). Both watches tackled more than one dive and survived unscathed. All documented with pics of dive comp depth. Unsure whether I can post links, but results are in another place. Google should sort you out.

I love the comment 30m does not mean 30m, it means splash proof. What a load of cobblers, it means 30m.

Where do you folks get your bizarre facts?

Oh and back to one watch.....still the Omega SMPc.
