Handsome watch. Not a big fan of California dials as a rule tho.
Just seen this new Panerai release:

I really like it! I wonder if the Bund strap will make it slightly easier to wear on my microscopic hamster wrists.

Hmmmm, this is a bit of a miss for me. I think the Bund strap is an unnecessary affectation, and like Rusty I can't get on with California dials.
I also don't think the hands are the best colour (bright blue hands on a black/brown watch & strap?), and although I often feel watch manufacturers put too much text on dials, I think having a completely sterile dial makes it look like a homage.

Is this a first for a cali dial in a 44mm Luminor? Have to say I quite like it, am coming around to a DLC Pam. Not a fan of the bund. These blue hands seem to be a "thing" for Panerai at the minute also having them on the 721. I can understand the historic reference, but for me, I really dislike the line across the hour hand as it makes it seem really disjointed.
I quite like the California dial. It has character IMHO. Not sure the blue hands work though. On Balance i prefer the 00424.
I quite like the sound of this on the black rubber strap they say is included.
Nice to see some 44mm models being made instead of the 47mm. When they produce a plexi 44mm 372 that would be the one!

Overall I quite like it, and could live with the blue hands, despite the bar across the hour hand. What kills it for me is the snap case back. Like a timber framed house, no logical reason to dislike, just doesn't feel right.

Monochrome state it’s 300m water resistance which I thought meant screw in case back. Weren’t the snap on case backs 100m?

You could well be correct the way modern Panerai are going!

DLC and not ceramic would put me off.
Hmm not sure about this, the Cali worked on the 249 and not really anything else. Again a reason to keep to the older PAMs IMO.
Not technically correct, the cheaper p.6000 movement models are indeed snap backs, with monoblock cases (no replaceable bezel) and fake screw springbars.
Reeks of cost cutting and an attempt to push people further up the food chain for a "real" Panerai.
I.e P.5000 models like 510, 560 etc still have a screwback, but the P.6000 ones don't.
What is sadder, is alot of models are having their sandwich dials being replaced by sausage dials.
Loved the Sandwich on the 511 I just sold, but even that has succumbed to a sausage dial. (might hunt for a sandwich 510 to replace it, since it was a great watch "just a tad" flash)
