3x Bell Boeing V22 Ospreys over North London

3 just flew over our place and was wondering what might have prompted that ? None appearing tomorrow for the RAF 100th Anniversary as far as I can see. I have only seen V22s once before and it was an amazing sight and sound.
Maybe in anticipation of that Trump fellow , later in the week ??

Most likely Trump-related; I've seen similar groups of three Ospreys over NYC on a few trips there, and every time it's been because of an upcoming or recently concluded presidential visit. I assume the aircraft are there to provide backup transport and probably to allow the Secret Service (or whomever) to reinforce quickly, should the need arise.

A couple of years ago I was driving on the A66 near Teesdale and was overtaken by an A-10 Warthog. I'd barely got over the surprise when an Osprey appeared as well. They are indeed amazing planes to see in flight.

It was reported in the local press that they had all been involved in low-flying exercises in the Yorkshire Dales.

Are these not USMC planes? Marine One which I presume will be used for the Trump visit is guarded by the marine corps so linked with that?

Trying to upload pics straight off my phone. I saw two fly over Putney at lunch time followed by a military helicopter and a private one.

Tommorow will be awesome in central London.

Posted on PH that saw 8 over Princes Risborough on Saturday Afternoon. Just saw another 2 x 4 fly over here just now. Bloody noisey in numbers.

I managed to get this photo of them in formation myself.

Four of them flew over West Somerset on Saturday. Assumed they were early arrivals heading to Fairford (RIAT). Certainly made an odd and distinctive noise.

I saw them over Aylesbury. My assumption was that they were practicing for Trump's visit next week. Awesome sight to see, even if they are hideous to look at. Impressive, but ugly.

3 flew low and loud over us in Berks at about 3pm heading NW ish.

Presume USAF or USMC as I don't think our military have any? UKSF was rumoured to be buying some I seem to remember, but not sure if it ever happened?

There's been a few buzzing over Dorset recently around Bovington camp.
    Impressive machines

Had three over Gloucs along with two gunships and a troop helio when Obama visited for the NATO meeting in Wales a couple of years ago. Probably the most impressive flying formation that I will ever see and the noise!

Are you sure they were Boeings and not AW609?

Slight size difference and i don't think there are 3 AW609s in existence.

No idea except that an AW609 crashed a few months back - so one less.

Drove past RAF Notholt earlier today and am certain they are parked up there. Makes sense as it is the nearest Air Force air field to Central London so I suppose the big fella will be offloaded there to then pop down to Regents Park to check into his holiday suite. ??

"slight size difference" is a bit of an understatement !!!

Magnificent, you were lucky to be there. They flew over the shop this morning on the way south.

My son caught Air Force One today (from his video but can’t post).

Later saw Osprey with two US presidential helicopters.

Just spent half an hour watching 3 circling over North London. Flying directly overhead in Hornsey. Magnificent.

Yes, I saw these in North London this evening. At least three constantly circling for more than an hour. Awesome sight and noise. They were very low - coukdn’t be more than a couple of thousand feet at times.

Would they be just circling in case of an emergency like an attack on the President? If so why over North London and not closer to the centre? What might they be carrying - special forces, secret service personnel or are they for communications and surveillance?

I must have seen a couple of these flying at low level nearly every week since I moved to North Norfolk a couple of years ago. Apparently they do all their search and rescue training locally and you can see them at low level in the gloom with their searchlights on regularly in the winter time. Still think they’re pretty cool even though they’re such a common sight up here tbh

7 low flying fighter jets just blasted over the mid-Wales/Herefordshire border.

Lots of activity in the skies here today!
