    Terribly, terribly sad.

The Dunlop racing family are near-royalty in Northern Ireland, and William sadly joins his father, Robert, and uncle, Joey, in losing his life whilst racing.

Most tragic of all is that he leaves behind a two year-old daughter and a partner expecting their second child. A child he will never meet.

This quote from a recent interview is unbearably poignant now: "Before I was wishing my dad would have been there with us at the bikes, but now with Ella coming along I know there is more to life than that and I wish he was around to see his granddaughter. That's how your mind changes. I would hope dad is proud of me."

Just awful. RIP and thoughts with his family & loved ones.

Genuinely gutted to hear that. A complete legend and so modest. I was due to go to skerries tomorrow.

So sad, I know they all understand the risks but even so this is terrible given the tragedy that surrounds this racing family.

Awful news. The Dunlop family have paid such a high price for their love of road racing.

Terrible news, I met Joey & Williams Father Robert back in 84, such gentleman, this sport has taken its heavy toll on the Dunlop's. I hope Michael calls it a day now.

I'd understand if he did, but can see zero chance of it happening.

It is both terrible and tragic, but Michael is on top of his game currently and a lot less on the edge in his riding style than in previous years. If he continues I wish him every success and an injury free career.

They’re a very talented family but they certainly pay the price for it.

A video of the crash is doing the rounds. Not a chance am I watching it, feel sick at the thought of it.
