    And so it begins

It may be 9 months before it's available because there's a 6 month lead time on movements.

On Chrome I can't see any pictures Eddie posts, what does it look like? Is it a 36mm reissue of a classic Smiths design like the Everest?

Ah, that. I'm still hoping one day Eddie will make reissues of Smiths watches. I'd love one of those. Saying that I could well buy one of these Daytonas.

Bah! It works best for everything else.

Ok, just looked on Safari. I'm definitely up for version A. Can I reserve a specific number please?

For reference I just checked on Firefox and I can't see your pictures on this either. Running a Mac with the latest 10.13.5 OS. It's only Safari that works.

We’ve waited this long; what is another 6-9 months!

This is going to be a cracker.

I agree. Subject to price get both and after a while put one back on the market if you don't like version A or B. I like both and that display back. is there a ballpark price yet?

    Both options are brilliant!
I’d also be interested to hear what the ballpark price is?

Love the watch and would def be interested in a black dial one. But like others price is important, any idea of a ball park figure?

    Richy

PS No.4 in the black dial if possible

Panda dial for me, the reverse panda is nice I just cant get past the red seconds as it looks more pink, more for the ladies.

Eddie would love the Panda please, are we nearly there yet?

Im assuming it will be 1-50 not 1-100?

if thats the case, Id like No. 10 in the panda :)

Cheapest ne88 equipped Watch I’ve seen was €500, seiko sell an NE88 Watch for $1500. It’s got to be around the £1000 mark

I like the look of it but I always feel these close homage watches are better with cheaper movements as you’re just playing at owning the real thing. I have an Alpha Newman Daytona and it cost about £130 but has a Manual wind seagul which does the job for a bit of fun homage type Watch IMO. Spending £1000 on a homage is getting a bit serious?

Well as folk are staking their claims,, white dial and if at all possible number 2 for obvious reasons.

Looks amazing! I could be tempted to go for both of these - price dependent. Definitely Version B though.

Loving both but probably B for me. This could generate a faster sellout than any other watch! 8 for me. Not that I'll be lucky enough to get it

Looks good - Does it have a name?

Would be the black white dial for me, if it's really white and not a faux aged cream (it grew on me! )

Good choice of movement - I had to look it up, but it sounds a nice bit of kit!

    Both.

Wearing the CAF as I type and I am afraid it might find itself being bested this time around.

Nice to see it is a 40mm case rather than Steinhart’s 42mm. Classic.

Killing me here, with the Speedbird B and now this. So many watches such little time.....

Slightly disappointed that the manual-wind lemania movement was not available (at an appropriate cost) to make it a little thinner.. but the Seiko NE88 is a good modern movement and the renders make the case proportions look right. Well done Eddie for taking this project forward.

The only trepidation is availability. I can't buy a new rolex and now I probably can't buy a homage because they are too popular.

No indicies outside the dial? Not necessarily bad but initially "odd" to my eyes.

Dials look great, I actually prefer the black one.

On another note, is there any indication with regards to the thickness of the watch case? I know the NE88 is relatively tall and I would imagine the domed crystal together wih the display caseback add another couple of mms?

    Kind Regards,
    Catalin

Ditto. Mostly because I fancy a white dial watch next rather than any strong preference as both look great
