Panerai PAM 00001 -- should I keep it

This is my first post so apologies for any incorrect protocol.
I have the watch in the title, #2 of B series so now 20 years old. I love the look of the watch, and wearing it, but after buying on a bit of an impulse I realise I'd prefer an automatic and I miss not having the date. Is this watch old/special enough to warrant keeping it or should I trade it on the likely PAM104 I will get as a daily wearer to replace it? Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome. A picture would be useful, also maybe a summary of what other watches you have to give it some context ?

Its entirely your choice but imo hand wind panerai are the pure panerai and you have an excellent example.
personally I wouldn't change it for an auto.

I'd echo these thoughts. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get a PAM177 back when they were (relatively) affordable!

I appreciate the comments thanks. Looks like I'll keep it. Can't upload pics from work PC, but for context a few other watches:

    Rolex Explorer II
    Rolex Oyster date
    Temption Chrono CGK205
    Ferragamo F-80 GMT Chronograph

If it's the T variant 001A or early B I'd definately stick with it. I have the 001b and more than happy with it, but like you sometimes think about moving it on.

Sadly it is an only an L but I still like it. Mind made up - its not going anywhere.

Thanks for the warm welcome, only been collecting for around 15 years so not sure why it has take me so long to get on here!

Thanks Nev. Now just the small matter of finding the right automatic with date, but then the search is half the fun!

As Nev will agree, you can never have too many Panerais.

Temption. Never owned one of the chronographs, however I did have a basic three hander watch with integrated bracelet. (CM05?). Very good quality indeed.

Yes, lot of watch for the money, and Klaus Ulbrich is a very nice bloke to deal with.
