If you like geocaching, see if there's a local group for rock decorating/hiding, seems to be the latest fad on facebook. Paint a rock, hide it, then go looking for other peoples hidden rocks
With 1st summer holidays approaching as the Dad of a 5 year old been looking for things we can do to fill some of the time. So started GeoCaching recently. Have booked her into a Little Gym for 5 half days in 1 week. 2 x 1 week holidays as a family.
Also just come across KiwiCo Crates which look like fun, so I've ordered one that should occupy a couple of days. Especially rainy ones.

It's a referral link so navigate directly if you don't want me to get discounts on future boxes.
Has anyone come across anything else like KiwiCo?
Any other ideas for summer fun?
Dadlab on Facebook is good for quick ideas too.

We've got one of those too, not tried that yet.
Buy a clown outfit and some makeup, you'll be good to go...
Back in my day all we needed was a few empty egg boxes and sellotape and that was pretty much it for the full summer with a load of riding of bikes.
Since when did it become a parents job to entertain kids? Feed and cloth maybe, but, entertain?
I’m just trying to fathom what reaction idve got from my parents were i to demand what we were doing that weekend
Having said that…. Look at google maps find green spaces and then go and discover them…. More fun then you’d think and kids think it’s a great adventure!!!
How about a trip to see War Horse followed by a visit to the beach?

Surely it depends upon their likes and dislikes. However lots sports clubs exist during the holidays. My son has done Football, Cricket, athletics. Good for building fitness, team working and the ability to interact with other children with trying to kill each other.
Augment that with days out to theme parks, city tours, museums, trips to parks/seaside, the shops (if they want something)
Failing that, buy some mega Lego kits, an Xbox/PS4, videos, good books and even jigsaw puzzles or palm them off on granddad and grandma. They have more exprience of occupying children including stuff like baking cakes.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
