    Massive Hands

My 90 year old Grandad is the reason I am afflicted with the watch collecting affliction.

Unfortunately his eyesight is failing to an extent that he can't make out the time easily on his current watches, including a PRS-18Q and various Citizen divers.

Anyone had a giant hand watch, photos would be great so I can show him!

    Thanks in advance
    Lammylee

Any merit in one of those talking watches, as used by the visually impaired? Also, a large desk clock might be best in the house. Sad really, but we all come to this.....

Thank you for the suggestion, He loves his analogue dials, I suggested something along those lines but he still enjoys the ownership experience of a traditional watch even though he struggles to see it.

This seems pretty good value, and is analogue (and radio controlled!)

Or there's quite a few options on the RNIB shop website, including the excellent Bradley EOne as an alternative:

    Timex weekender is pretty good

Posh watches then tudor ranger is very dial clear but i think white dials are easier on ageing eyes

Search for ' watches for seniors'
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Citizen Orca has a couple of massive hands - would be one cool 90 year old wearing one of those!

Maybe one of those Eone Bradley Braille Watches might be the way forward?

    Thank you Gents!

    Some great suggestions there!

I will show him the options and add a wrist shot when he has chosen

Why not a Milsub type Diver of some description with the sword hands. Plenty of brands do them, CWC, Steinhart, Borealis etc, the are nice and clear and not that expensive.

Eddies submersible is the most legible watch I own - but it is a monster at 45mm (without crown)

If I need a smaller version, I would have gone for the Smiths big date - before it sold out.

Maybe a large Mondaine would be legible enough for him.

Christopher Ward C65 Classic with black dial.
At 43mm it should help with visibility and they are on offer with 30% off at the moment.
With the 60:60 package he can also return it if it doesn't help!

My mother's eyesight isn't what it was, and she's taken a shine to my Sinn 856 for sheer legibility. I might get her a 556A which is similarly clear without the features that she doesn't need. She also likes the idea of the Eone.
