Homage to early military flieger watches

Lazy weekend playing with the camera. Here it is my collection of the captioned theme so far. From left to right, IWC Vintage Collection Pilot’s Watch, Stowa Flieger Original Limited Edition, Glashutte Original Senator Navigator, Chronometerwerke Wempe Fligeruhr Limited Edition. The Wempe is the latest acquisition here. It was made by Chronoswiss on behalf of Wempe, long ago and very limited. So it took me a little while to find one. But nothing compare to the effort to find the Stowa, which took me good few years. I have also just completed the task to equip them all with proper flieger / aviator type straps, whatever you call it. Very please with the result. Thinking to get one of the Laco Erbstuck models next.

Delightful, if I had to choose it would be the Glashutte for me. You need a Type 20 to diversify your collection a little! (LOL)

A lovely collection, looking good on those straps.

You mean the Zenith type 20?

They are either way too big or too small. As much as I love them, they are just unwearable to me. Than they start making the smaller one which is now too small unfortunately for this kind of watch. Well until they make one the ‘right’ size then.

Question Yes I love it too

Because it’s one of the original five B-uhr makers but is the less well known model here. I just wish the Wempe and CW logos are less profound on the dial. The dial is a bit too cluster now. Other than that it’s perfect. The Go is slight better on the dial, but it would be perfect if they make it sterile, like the Stowa.

Truly great collection of Fliegers. However istead of thinking of the artificially aged (and strange to me) Laco Erbstück I would try to catch an original Laco Beobachtungsuhr. I know prices are getting crazy lately but still seeing sometimes on the bay going for OKish money.
I really think that an original war piece would complete this wonderful group.
    Good hunting!

Thanks. I am still on honey moon period with the Wempe.

I am torn between the Stowa and IWC, both look fabulous.

    No the are not..

The IWC and Go are on Rios1931 straps, the Wempe is on Tourby strap and the Stowa is on stowa’s own strap that came standard wih the watch. All of them are close loop flieger straps with rivet detail. Show me what’s the Tornado strap. Are they good?

It’s the smallest here at 41mm.

Yes that’s why they are both in the collection. 😬

I did look at the original, but

they are too big. I am skeptical to buy a watch that I cannot wear. Maybe 1 for collection only one day.

    The Tornado strap looks ace!

A bit pricy but I guess it reflects the quality. The Rios1931 is great too. It features more colours and is more economical on Ebay. Have a look if you need to get another strap again.

I have to confess I didn’t notice the price, when I got mine I swear it was £45! It is a quality one though.

Ok thanks. I am sure it is.

Expansive now bit still a lot less than what the big brands are asking for a standard leather strap nowaday.
