Nice heads up there and a great price, shame I already have one!
Just picked one of these up from Very, at a very nicely reduced price of £179.

The only complaint I have with mine after a few months of ownership is reading the date, the window is so small coupled with the fact the date wheel seems to deep set.
Anyone else have this problem?

Yes mate. Comments about the date have put me off a bit since I'm a squinty old bastard but still got me pecker up.
Had one of the verys in my basket last night but didn't pull the trigger.
Saw the blue version online and that looks very tasty.
Might come in handy in the old cave.

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
The little brother BM6400-00E has the same problem with the date being too far away from the window and being a little too small.
But I love that watch and wear it most days.
How big is the BN0118-04E ?
The BM6400 has 20 mm lugs, is 41 mm OD diagonal, 48 mm lug to lug, and 45 mm wide across the crown. Thickness is 11 mm

Took delivery of one of these yesterday. Really liking it a lot.
Anyone know of a Citizen Authorised dealer in the U.K. that will post to the US for the BN0118-04E
As it looks to be a nice watch and great reviews here.
I heard John Lewis in Oxford will post to the US?
I had the original Ray Mears back in 2002 but it was 39 mm and seemed a bit to small on my 7 in wrist

John, watcho will ship to the US free insured
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Keep finding myself drawn back to this watch and then remembering how much I think it has in common with my Damasko dc56, obviously different watches at different price points but wondered if anyone has owned both and what the outcome was, I could only really justify one...?

Price just dropped to 240 at JL. You can thank me later.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Thanks so much, I looked on their site but not seeing the watch
As their site does not allow the watch to be exported, I suspect it has nothing to do with the watch and more based on their shipping policies.
From WUS here in the US a recent (August buyer) he mentioned he purchased from the Oxford Street location and they will export to US.
I am awaiting a return from John Lewis to my Saturday quire on Monday when they open.
John
@ 380 USD. but my concern is the warranty paper is not stamped by an authorized dealer so should an issue come up in the 5 years it would be at my cost,
plus unless shipping is very high to the US even with the overseas transaction fee it would appear JL in Oxford UK is less.

This may have been linked to before, apologies if I've missed it. It seems a pretty comprehensive history of the watch

I did find one on WUS here in the US. Seems a chap had gotten 3 from a dealer in the UK.
The price was right
Cheers

Hi
I am that chap. I purchased four units as I am a hopelessly OCD watch nerd that had read that QC with these could be dodgy so decided to get multiple units and pick the best one. As it turned out all four were superb, so I currently have one on as handmade black leather strap :)
I still have two left, currently on offer on WUS. I sold one to a chap in Oklahoma City. I supplied him with a John Lewis gift receipt that matches with the watch serial number/barcode so therefore validates the 5 year international guarantee. I also posted to him tracked and signed with the shipping spec (ie gift, value) of his choice. It took about a week to get to him I think, as I checked a few days ago and it's delivered.
I didn't originally plan to sell these on as, as already pointed out, I only wanted a nice one for myself. However, having nabbed these on Black Friday I can afford to send them on at a cost that works well, so decided to offer a good deed to my fellow Mears enthusiasts.
If no one wants them I can still get a refund until the end of Jan '19.

Noticed them on sale at Beaverbrooks. Not the £179 crazy price from earlier in the thread but not bad.
£183 at Beaverbrooks with the code vipextra20
Got four watches in four weeks so I'll pass on this one but really tempted...
Picked mine up from H Samuel for £149, don't know if it was just a managers special as as it's not shown on their website.
Really tempting and it would go well with my BJ9130-05E but need to make some space in the watch boxes first!

Know this is going to sound weird, but given I baby my watches anyway & just take them off if they risk dirt, danger or even water!
Love the looks of these and always wanted a Ray M one. However I’ve recently got a Sinn UX SDR and more recently a DA36 on bracelet. Both are tough as nails but there’s still something about the citizen bringing me back to consider it.
Although reality is I don’t need one & it looks a bit similar to this in my eyes.

Having now flicked through the photos again, maybe not as similar, maybe as robust or maybe more so. Certainly heavier.

I really want one of these, but every time I try one on it looks tiny, like a ladies watch. I do have large wrists - I’m usually on the last hole with most straps - but it’s annoying to say the least! - I also had a new solar tuna I returned to John Lewis for the same reason I must be in the minority, the big watch fad suited me, I’m hoping to get a nice collection of 44mm Panerai when everyone’s wearing 34mm like it’s the 1930’s!

I’m a Johnny-come-lately to this thread, but I thought I’d add my thoughts about the “Ray Mears 2.”
Some have managed to buy this watch for an absolute steal. I bought mine with a 10% discount from Ernest Jones, so it cost me £270. Even at that price, I’m very pleased with it. It has a lovely clear dial, a nice mix of brushed and polished titanium on the case, which is of course a monocoque design. Being quartz the accuracy is exemplary and unlike many much more expensive marks, the second hand of the E168 hits the markers, bang on, all the way round. The 20mm lug width allows many types of strap changes but the accompanying canvas strap is a great match, although I did remove the metal keeper being heavy and “waltish.”
It does wear surprisingly small for a 40mm watch. I think this is due to the small lugs and large amount of dial, including its depth. I like the blue lume, although it could do with being a bit brighter and the date window is all but useless. Overall it's a very nice, easy to use and wear, lightweight but rugged watch.

Thanks Matt, yes I'm impressed with the watch and the movement. I have my eye on another Citizen which has been a forum favourite for some years, the BN0151-09L diver in blue. Same movement as the RM2 but with an apparently terrible strap. However I have a rather nice, cut down blue NATO which would work with the dial.
Hi all.
I was lurking at the Smith Everest 36 for month but:
- it’s complicated to order due to Eddy’s health problem
- I’m keen off with automatic watches due to my job and way off life
So I decided to go on quartz and find this one. I promised me not to buy any other watch over 39mm but this one seems not to have a big dial (my sweet spot is between 30 & 32mm) and the 46mm lug-to-lug tells me it will just fit perfectly my wrist.
So I find a black one with gray strap on eBay and bought it immediately.
By the specs it seems to be the ultimate toolwatch and I think it’s gonna be my «*only one watch*» for the 10 years to come. Will received it on Friday.
Date is not an issue as I prefer without.
Just ordered the BN0118-55E (the one with the titanium strap). Arriving to Tomorrow all being well.
