''Like tears in the rain''.
Spin-off from the 'Once Upon...' thread. There are movie scenes that made a life-long impression. Scenes that you can remember like it was yesterday.
I'll kick off - not with the duel scene from 'Once Upon...' because I posted that already but a few years later, this made a BIG impression: Taxi Driver with De Niro (was this the last role he played well?)
Followed by this: the openings scene of the first Starwars film that entered the theatres:
Finally, watching this with my wife - who is a big movie fan: the opening scene from The Matrix. I remember that we looked at each other after Trinity had floorded the police officers saying: "This is going to be gooooood!" ( i still think that one Matrix movie was enough, btw)
''Like tears in the rain''.
"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."
'Populism, the last refuge of a Tory scoundrel'.
The bit in pulpy when Travolta stabs uma thurman in the chest with the adrenaline shot at lances House
Seeing that movie changed my life
I remember seeing an interview with tarantulino and he was saying that at a critics screening when that scene was shown, someone in the audience had a cardiac arrest. He did his usual hyperactive child impression whilst describing his reaction to the incident ' And i thought, yeah, that's cinema baby! '
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
That's a good one! Deserves a spot on my list as well!
For those unfamiliar with the scene...
Did you know that the stabbing was filmed in reverse? Tarentino shot the scene with the syringe on her chest and Travolta lifting it off - and played it backwards in the film. Thurman wasn't keen on being at the receiving end of a fast moving syringe coming down on her chest...

It has to be this scene from Storm Boy, the best Aussie film made. I so wanted a Mr Percivel of my own as a kid, watching this again makes me fell rather melancholy

It's the first film that I ever remember really "getting" and, as such, has remained with me ever since.
Visiting this bar in the Park Hyatt hotel Tokyo is an ambition of mine, and I don't care if that sounds a little daft
I won't post a link as you really need to see the whole film to appreciate the impact but there is a scene in Life is Beautiful, where something is seen through the fog, slowly coming into focus. Hit me like a freight train.
"Do you (I) feel lucky...well, do ya punk?"
The whole film, on a (then) newly restored 70mm print, at the Marble Arch cinema in 1989. All 222 minutes and 24,987.5 feet of it. It made an impression. Majestic.
Yes. As with the similarly-majestic Dunkirk, it doesn't really work on anything smaller.Originally Posted by Philip French
Another one, and also well known. People seem to pick out the cuckoo-clock speech but this scene made more of an impression on me...
I never knew there were snake charmers in Texas.

This is the final scene from kurosawa's Sanjiro. What I find so powerful it that up until this point the film has been played almost like a comedy.

There are many scenes in that film that I could have chosen. I chose the original trailer because it is perfect for the film.
'Against stupidity, the gods themselves struggle in vain' - Schiller.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
The clip I want isn't on YouTube.
But this gives a flavour.
The band...

I want my morning back. Spent the last hour on YouTube looking at movie scenes....
Here is another one:

The ride of the Rohirrim from the Return of the King gets me every time:

Skating away on the thin ice of a new day
The opening from Blade Runner as well as "Tears in the Rain."
The melancholy of the opening with it's music and scene setting, especially the industrial city landscape with power furnaces spewing fire from their vast chimneys, being reflected in the pensive world weary eyes, always gets me.
Same with the emotional speech by Roy.
The Wicker Man pub scene for me.
recent but fabulous IMHO

I still remember the first time I watched the beach landing from Saving private Ryan. I almost felt like I was in shock afterwards. I think it was the first film that absolutely did not hold back on the horror of it.
This for me, as a 7 year old in Blackburn cinema, with my Gran, made the most lasting impact
Now I watch the last 5 mins of Rogue One before Star Wars, they go so well into each other, love this scene as well

Not the greatest film, but I certainly remember when the bird in the crying game gets her sausage out. Talk about twists in the plot!
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
This scared me. A lot.
The plot will be familiar to those of you who studied The Tempest.
I can't pick a specific scene, have the whole damn thing.

Not the sort of unboxing we like.

Watched a film called the road last night. No film has ever made me feel emotions like it.
Found this scene the worst.

How could I not think of this scene?
