    Car boot sales

Itís the season when the car boot enthusiast is out in force in Lincolnshire

I donít normally frequent them but Mrs Macca wanted to look for some furniture to restore so along I went to supervise the children.

She found nothing, accompanied by my 7 year old however had a rummage in a house clearance that was for sale...

Ended up spending 7 of my English pounds on this very cool smiths 3 second face stop watch (fully working) and these awesome tinplate pencil tins, any of you 80s/90s kids will probably have had one of these as I did! Well I had 2 on my shelf for years and still have them..

Anyway, letís do something a little different, want to see some car boot bargains as Iím sure Iím not the only one whoís found some interesting things

The tins are in the garage so Iíll dig them out and post later

Deco mantle clock. I'm going to give this to Carlton-Browne but don't tell him, it's a surprise

You're not supposed to tell C-B how much it cost. It's bad manners.

The best I managed was a sterling silver, Yard-o-Led propelling pencil for a quid. Unfortunately don't have it today as when I split up with my ex PBH* she applied the 'what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine' rule.

When I left my PBH I took all my possessions with me the same day, as I knew thatís what I was facing, she would have destroyed it all otherwise

I've had a few car boot bargains over the years going back to when mechanical watches were all over the place, much more difficult now.

I guess my best finds were a large IWC from 1946 for £3 and a Heuer Autavia for £100.

Loads more that I swapped for a Rolex Exp II.

Still out every weekend in the season.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

My only contribution to a thread about car boots is that I used to pop around and have robust discussions about ugandan politics with a neighbour while her husband was out looking for tat on a sunday morning.

For some unknown reason my 11 year old lad took a shine to a Kenwood breadmaker last Sunday, even more strange was I said he could have it but god knows where it will live, anyway he bagged it for £1..
