New 2018 Rolex Pepsi 1st Delivery

Looks like a guy in Tokyo is first to post a 'buy' of one of these! New thread on TRF.

Wonder when they'll hit the UK?

Probably more precise to say when will they hit Watchfinder, Watch club etc. Quite sure they have already worked out the above RRP profit for themselves when start to get offered in.

I’ve asked to be on the waiting list but probably won’t see one.
Nice if they start coming through though.

    And a snip at £16,500!

Looks nice but you'd have to be some kind of fool to pay that amount and buy into the current Rolex mania.......I'll make him an offer! ;-)

    Absolutely ridiculous all this.

When will people wake up. There will be genuine buyers out there who want to keep this Watch yet they will have to wait years while AD’s take back handers and grey dealers earn money. Then if they’re lucky they may get one but be treated like a turd and have the stickers peeled off in front of them and the warranty card held back!

These restrictions get imposed on genuine buyers because of other people’s dodgy dealings (which never changes) and yet the grey dealer gets the warranty card.

Just to say if you buy this watch you are a plonker.

    GMT espresso

For any fans of the new Bi colour Gmt, nicknamed the Root beer but for myself I think Espresso is more appropriate, Watch cub have just taken one into stock and only £4.5 over RRP, on-site at £14750.

Who fancies throwing away £4K + over RRP on this.

Yes I just looked on the Rolex website where it’s listed at £6800 so a huge mark up, guess supply & demand.

People throw away £4k+ on a daily basis on Ceramic Daytonas, so not much difference really.

Changing the subject slightly, watchclub have a stonking 1971 Red Sub - not cheap, but fantastic.

I tried one on at an AD last week but didn't buy it as that would have knocked me a year back for the Pepsi! Love it though!

I’m one of those genuine buyers waiting (Im)patiently on a list of unknown length.

I can’t imagine many of these being picked up directly by grey dealers which is where they would make most profit. I imagine the more common scenario would be an individual buying and flipping, though potentially without warranty card etc. In this case the flipper makes some profit and the grey makes a turn, but lesser profit.

Frustrating, but I won’t be shelling out around twice rrp for one! I’d be tempted at a modest amount over rrp if I could get one say a year or two quicker, to factor in potential price rises. Perhaps there’s a gap in the financial markets for Rolex futures and options😀

Depends what you mean by a "genuine" buyer but if you mean someone who buys the watch to keep and wear then card retention, etc., would be a very minor irritation to me personally. If it was that or never get the watch I wanted at list, I'd take it every day.

Unfortunately, people charge premiums because some people will pay them. If everyone refused to pay a premium there would be a far greater equilibrium between supply and demand. Sadly it isn't going to happen in the foreseeable future. I find it a huge turn-off for the Rolex brand.

I tried the new GMT on the other day and I was genuinely disappointed.

The colours of the bezel just didn’t look as strong and “rich” as the older bezels. I might even say the looked “plasticky”.

I’d rather spend my money on an older one.

Yeah, that video pretty much sums up my impression of the bezel colours.

Last Rolex event he’ll be going to haha

He’s right though, purple and pinky red and a piece of jewellery. Wouldn’t surprise me if some people brag on paying way over list.

One thing, the davidsw one sold straight away for $21k the next one will be dearer and then what’s it going to do to the price of the vintage Pepsi GMT’s? I think it’ll drag them up too.

I can see it in a future hoodwinkee video. ‘Talking watches with some rapper’. “Yeah man, I got the new Pepsi, cost me twice list but totally worth the hype. And of coarse you get the new one man you’ve gotta buy the original [flashes vintage pepsi] it’s where it all started, I’m a proper collector now”

Whilst I wouldn't pay over list by that amount, David (or any other grey dealer) can't really be blamed for the lack of supply and subsequent inflated prices in my view.

A dealer asks a price, and forces no-one to pay it.

If anyone is a villain in the whole scenario it's whoever is selling the watches to the greys, or the mothership for creating the vacuum that the market exists in.

As countless others have said, Rolex could end this tomorrow by increasing supply.

Not entirely relevant to this debate, but just to say having bought a few watches from DavidSW, he is 100% reliable and trustworthy.
