Recommend me a modestly sized and modestly priced quartz Seiko diver

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a watch man in possession of a modest budget must be in want of a Seiko diver.

I am in want of a quartz grab n'go with modest dimensions, 40mm (or under) preferred. Thank you all.

Recommend me a quartz Seiko diver, 40mm max

The only one I can think of is the SBDN015

    38.75mm across (including the crown)
    Lug to lug: 46.45mm
    Height: 11.2mm

The choice is either SKX or Citizen NY0040 isnt it ? I'm in the latter group - hand winding FTW ;)

With that in mind what about this Citizen Diver , has a touch of the Planet Ocean about it

Thanks, but that's a ladies watch!

Okay this is a dive watch so maybe I should dare to go bigger.

Thread title amended to 'modestly sized' rather than 40mm max but I don't want any monsters!

I used to have this. Lovely size, but actual dial size was too small. Very light too. Will make a great kids watch.

I know... But it’s the only current Seiko Quartz Diver I know of, under 40mm.

Or the slightly larger 42mm 7548, it's vintage now but they do pop up on SC now and then.

Has to be the mid size skx013 . It’s a tad smaller than skx007/9

Skx013 on left, 007 on right

Failing them a Seiko sea urchin or Steinhart ocean black 39

Second this. I’ve settled on the 013 as my beach beater. Doesn’t fit the quartz requirement though

Well you could try and seek one of these out they meet your requirements at 40mm. I have a couple actually.

You need a 7548. There is no point denying yourself any longer.
Don't wear it on a nato and it will look smaller.

I would have to say the divex diver.
It has a seiko movement I haven’t handled one but am even considering one.
    Take a look here,
Is this the best value diver in the world? Probably!

Apeks also do a nice diver with a Seiko movement, though at 41mm might be a shade too big:

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

I've found this good article, although all but one of the watches are 42mm or larger.

Maybe Jsprings? or invicta have one?

I think the OP had outlined quartz so the only one Seiko are doing new mid size is that solar diver . Other than that it’s a vintage quartz perpetual calendar diver skx type

Is Seiko only option. How about going with Citizen promaster line (eco-drive)?
BN0150 is a good value for the money

In the 1990s i had a Pulsar quartz diver that i wore daily and i have owned several automatic Seiko SKX's. In recent years i was in need of a pick up and go quartz beater . I found this Zeno quartz sport diver. It is the same size as a Breitling Colt (about 40mm case with 20mm lugs.It is 200m water resistant with screw down crown, superluminova dial/hands and the second hand hits the markers,it comes on a steel bracelet and costs the same as a Seiko diver. Also being a Zeno it is Swiss made too. You can find this Zeno on e-bay from German sellars and on Amazon UK.

Seiko own pulsar so technically this could fall under the requirement

As others have said the 7548 or the lesser seen 7C43 would be the perfect 40mm quartz choice. Widely available used and in varying colours and serviceable , my oldest being 40 years old!

The SBCM023 is more like 38mm and noticeably smaller at first but a lovely watch especially on the bracelet.

    Cheers

    Lovey watch

    It is the Seiko 5H25-6050.

I do think they got the colour combination just right on this and of course it is something not seen very much these days, a small diver's watch, white faced as well. It is only 40mm including the crown.

Thanks Mitch!! It’s the colour that has caught my eye. I will try and source one.

    Thanks

Does it have to be battery-powered quartz, or would Solar be OK? I have an orange Solar which is pretty good - crown at 3 o’clock which l prefer. Creation sell it.

After posting about getting my 1982 6309-7290 fixed (graunchy crown), I had to remind myself how much value these watches represent. I read posts on here, watched a handful of videos and still couldn't decide whether it should be the 007 or the 013. Both sat in my shopping basket at CW whilst I tried to decide but then I looked at the bottom line. A shade over £300 for two classics. I pressed the buy button.

Only afterwards, I remember the same decision making stood in Watches of Switzerland at LHR trying to decide whether it should be the Omega Speedy or Seamaster and thinking "sod it, I'll have both". The decision represented 15x the amount of money but took less time.

I need to loosen up and start building the collection!

Also ordered some NATO and leather straps. Will have a play when they arrive and drop into the "Show Me .." thread.

As above it is the 5H25-6050.

It is a JDM model only and you would be very unlikely to see one in the West. I do have two of them mind as is the way with the WIS!

Seiko got it just right with this colour combination the white and the blue work well together, even the colour of the lume seems to integrate well.

It is also unusual these days being a white faced diver and small with it at only 40mm.

Bugger. Ordered two divers from Creation before reading all the duty threads here and just had a demand from DHL for £75 on £310 worth of watches. That will teach me. UK suppliers only next time.

I am surprised by this news. Previously I have ordered 5 watches from Creation and apart from the one JDM watch which was dispatched from Japan, all the others that came from Singapore via DHL dodged customs and taxes. I wonder if they are still coming via Germany with DHL before landing in the UK.

No, straight through Singapore > UK.

Quick delivery but I pay enough tax as it is and if I had carried these through customs, there would be no VAT/Duty.

Since Mitch posted this, I have been on the hunt for one. I got a mate in Japan to bid on a tatty one on Yahoo auctions over there and picked it up for £30. The date is stuck but otherwise working. Will run it through a mender I go to in Malaysia for a fix and clean up and see how it turns out.

I've asked my mate to save a search for this model to see if any better ones come up before my trip over there in Sept when you'll also find me in Yodobashi camera sniffing out some interesting JDMs.

I've only been active on this forum a short while and getting heavily influenced!

Do dive watches not have to be at least 200m water resistance though ?

A couple of questions if that's ok as i'm tempted to purchase a solar diver.
How accurate is it & what make is the strap please.

Standard quartz accuracy - about a second or so a day. I t came on the current Seiko Prospex dive strap - which is very nice IMO.

The strap in the pictures is a rubber NATO from Alex at Yellowdog straps.
