Strap for my Sinn - ideas please

    Morning all,

I have a Sinn 656 which doesn't get worn much which I put down to not having found a strap that I really like. It's sported the following
    - Sinn metal bracelet
    - NATO (black, orange, khaki)
    - Sinn stitched black leather

Not being too familiar with options or suppliers I wondered if anyone had some alternative suggestions that may work well with it.

This is the watch on the Sinn black leather strap

I think that the problem with that strap^^^ might be that you find it a bit fussy. Perhaps you would prefer something more plain, with a flat surface, which wouldn't distract from the bold simplicity of the dial and case? Eg

When I had my 656 I also tried it on the Sinn bracelet. Whilst it was a very well made bracelet I found that this style of watch didn't suit it at all, much better on leather IMHO. Black dials always look good on brown leather, and TSS have a good selection at very good prices. I've had my Everest on one of their Titan CS straps from new, very hard wearing, the 20mm version would be the right weight for your Sinn, too many people fit straps that are way too thick for a given size of watch head and they overpower the watch and look terrible. Watchbandcenter have a vast selection also. I've bought from both and they are good to deal with.

If you don't like it on a bracelet, strap OR NATO, then maybe it's not the strap that's the problem...?

That said, perhaps a strap with curved ends?

I had a 656 and I would have to say I think it looked best on either the original Sinn leather strap (black with white stitching) or a black nato. You could try a Sinn rubber strap? They aren't cheap however.

Thanks for the link to Iyonk's straps. They look fantastic - all the more impressive for how he got into 'strapping' and how long he has been running with it for. I quite like the look of the black strap below. Maybe something simple is the way to go.

Thanks for the links and advice. I like the look of the Titan CS - I may give brown a go to see how it goes. Good to hear they wear well as the Sinn is split around the buckle already. Agree on your points regarding size as the Sinn feels pretty small and would be be easy to have a watch strap dominate the look.

Couldn't help lusting over the Aviator straps with the metal studs on the site - I think I may have to buy another watch to suit that strap though.....

Fluco Black Horween Shell Cordovan, Flat (which would be my preference) or Padded?

Fluco make some excellent quality and very well priced straps. I have one of their London models in dark brown bridle leather on my Archimede deck watch, it's a lovely piece of leather for well under £30.

Very nice - How did you buy from Iyonk - assume a PM through IWL forum, or does he have an online shop?

Yeah either PM there, or PM on Instagram. IWL is on tapatalk too, so you might find that easiest? Also Instagram PMs are being a bit weird recently, now I think about it.

My Sinn 556 lives on a thick slightly distressed brown leather strap made by Pavel - the chunky strap suits it well IMO.

Sinn do a decent rubber strap also which looks quite good on that model.

As I noted in another post, Sinn themselves have lots of strap options at reasonable prices (in Germany at least). The rubber strap itself is found for only 25 Euro but the small deployant probably adds another 100 Euro. http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...Sinn-strap-fun

Otherwise for the thick leather 2-stitch vintage style and their ilk, I swear by Colareb. I've had loads from this little Italian family based firm and the quality of the leather is fantastic and the service is excellent too. My fave straps all told. www.colareb.it or on eBay.
