Thanks JasonM. It'll have to trial & error then! I've got a cheap screwdriver set that will be perfect for this.

JasonM has explained it well. I’d looked on YouTube and used a small nail secured in a monkey wrench. I can see a screwdriver getting knackered. I started using my expensive Rolex screwdriver but it wasn’t big enough to get the required grip and thought it would get damaged.

I took a chunk of skin off my thumb in the process! Good luck!!

I remember those. Loved them! And That's - I had some metal versions (the material not the music). I think they were £4 each. A lot of money in the 80s...

I'd like to buy some cassettes but I have nothing to play them on.

Is it time for a Nakamichi Dragon after all these years...

BTW. The chap in this video needs to get out more.

Nostalgia is all well and good but surely you remember the "joys" of wow and flutter. Then if you were really lucky you had this to contend with.

I'm sure you'll remember those big black cases which could hold 30 or 40 cassettes. I had two of those filed with years worth of John Peel recordings, painstakingly recorded late at night with the great man's wit and some excellent reggae and blues. I leant them to some tit at uni, who walked off with them. Such a shame. TDK and Maxell... ;)

Yes, I remember my Pioneer HiFi had very quick auto-reverse decks. Not great for tape stretch!

I have an 80’s car and decided to keep the original tape deck, all tapes are based around the cars age 1987!!
Anyway are we thinking Argos is an AD or a grey dealer for these Casio’s.

Argos or Amazon when I looked. Probably other places.

Amazon was £14.99 free Prime next day delivery.

Just checked these and they're still on Amazon for £14.99 - it's also the subject of a Nick Shabazz review. He's always good value, like the watch.

I have 7 3/4" wrists if this helps with the proportions?

But now, at £14.99, it's probably just worth buying?

The bracelet, pushers and case back is steel, everything else is plastic. Still a cracking value watch though :-)

I haven't been particularly careless but I've already put a scratch on my Casio Royale. The black bezel border is clearly painted cos the scratch to the bezel has revealed the grey plastic underneath. The clasp looks rather weathered now too. Wassabi innit. I don't own a Rolex at the minute but this is exactly why I wouldn't wear one day to day as and when I get another (SubC Date on order).

The Casio Royale has replaced my 5610 G-Shock as a daily wear as it has the advantage of displaying current time and count down timer simultaneously. I time music lessons every day.

I love a bit of wasabi on a watch. Gives it just that bit of character and makes one stand out from the crowd

I still dictate onto a tape at work. About an hour a week onto a MC 60

The NHS is not keen on progress. I even have a digital dictaphone for my private work, but it just doesn't have the haptic feedback of my trusty dicataphone.

Occasionally the tapes snap and I lose 30+ patients dictation. There is a swear jar for this.

Gosh, I've just Google'd it, and they were perfected (!) in the late 1960s. And we still use them in 2018

Wasnt the nakamichi cr7 supposed to be better than the dragon?

Shame all my decks and portables have snapped or bust rubber belts.
Must try and find somewhere that replaces them.

I had a look. I think my dad had one in the early 80s. It was a gift from his sister who used to travel abroad frequently. If I recall was genuine japanese model. Will have to ask mum about it! Available on eBay/Etsy between £ 77 to 130!

Brought back some memories seeing the memorex yellow tapes.

There’s worse things to collect I guess. I kind of get it, I can remember back in the day actually enjoying having a load of fresh, blank tapes and even chosing decent ones.

The price you pay is the price in-store when you pick it up.
