It really changes the way you look at camping. Initially came from carp and shore fishermen who wanted a comfortable bed near their canes.

It's also going to help when I go to visit my friend in Dorset now he's chucked out his spare bed! I just became fed up with having to inflate a mattress before going to sleep every night and often waking up at 4am freezing cold. It sort of spiralled out of control from there! Le Mans next week, I get to try it all out.

Do you want pictures of me in the sleeping bag or lying on the bed?

We were camping last week in France. Our tent is a steel poled Outwell Glendale 5 man. Plenty big enough for us, family of four kids aged 9 and 11. The steel poles are heavy but make for a very solid tent and my wife and I can put it up in about 30 minutes. Had a couple of massive storms at night last week and we were perfectly dry in the tent. Quite fun playing board games snug inside listening to the storm raging and the rain hammering against the tent. Kids sleep on cheap Decathlon inflatable mattresses while my wife and I use Thermarest Basecamp mats which we must have bought over a decade ago and still going strong (and very comfortable). This is our tent:

I tend to favour the more traditional approach:

I am not into camping (a remnant from my time in the Army... too many nights out in the field in a small tent, I suppose). But my oldest has this small Decathlon tent that he uses when I don't go with him on a sailing regatta weekend. Marvellous little thing folds into a circle. Brilliant. The latest version (2018) of his tent is even better insulation-wise and black-out wise. His is a 2016 model.

    Sorry to bump this thread.

I posted an earlier picture of my Outwell Montana, which is a perfectly good tent by the way.
Now for some reason after reading this thread, I decided I definitely needed an upgrade! (No idea why!)
Anyway, I spent ages looking and needed something to fit the 5 of us in.

    So I bought this..........

No idea why, It had to be polycotton & Inflatable. I blame you lot!!

Anyway if you are after a large family Air Tent, with breathable fabric, this is awesome.

If I don't use it again, I think it could actually garage my Hilux lol.

Full on at Latitude last weekend, done it for years. Thursday afternoon through to Monday morning, mines the blue Vango Airbeam.

It’s a fantastic festival for the family with absolutely so much to do, music is only half of it. It’s super friendly, safe, never any bother , we didn’t spot a copper all weekend and it’s void drunken idiots.

    Cannot recommend it enough.
