Thread: Lume shots only

  1. #1501

Not the greatest lume in the world but you get the idea.....

  2. #1502

Spotted how good the lume looked when I turned off the light last night after a late finish preparing to commentate on Chelsea-Man City today.
    Have a great Sunday all.

Little supercharged as the tritium doesn’t glow for more than half a second…

Not bad for an old watch in full daylight.

Thanks - it was the white dial / green lume / red seconds colour combo that made me get it. They did this (1576.41) with black, red or a rather horrible-looking green dial too but I think this one is the pick of the bunch by a mile.

It recently returned from oblivion as I lent it to my wife about ten years ago (she prefers men's watches) and she lost it. Then it turned up in a handbag that had been stuck at the back of a cupboard and forgotten about. Almost as good as getting a new watch!

I genuinely did not expect the lume to be so good on the Speedmaster 3861. No idea why as it's really very good, and long lasting too.

Old sterile dial mod from Mk II:

Base watch was Ollech & Wajs M6. Mk II did a decent lume job with the dial I think. That said, it fades fairly quickly.

TAG Heuer Solargraph with lumed forged carbon bezel and new Nick Mankey lumed strap. Strap is a new concept with flexible lumed silicon that lasts as long as that on the watch itself - glows like a beacon and I love it.

Tudor Pelagos FXD MN on another Nick Mankey Dive Strap, gives the watch a totally different look.

Where would one find those straps? Very nice.

These are from Nick Mankey Design in California, at least a 12 week lead in time though (these were longer as it was the first time he had used the lume material). These are a limited edition of 250 per design and genuinely handmade - so I wouldn’t procrastinate for too long if interested. Interestingly, Nick is now OEM manufacturer for Fortis ‘space’ straps - remarkable for such a small operation. Not cheap but worth every penny, fortunately didn’t get clipped for import duty.

Thank you kindly. Awesome straps, and being the man for Fortis is no mean feat. He must be good.

Hi, the Forest Brown. Like it lots but 19mm lug width is a slight downside, could be a mm or two smaller aswell.

Good-looking watch, congrats. I feel the need of a brown dial watch in my life some time soon. 19mm does give me pause on this one though! Don’t know why manufacturers still do this.

It is an odd one, 20mm lugs would still have been in perfect proportion to the case.
